Re: Solar -> CCS?

A friend put 4 kW of solar panels on his house when he got a Tesla Roadster. Shortly before the Roadster was delivered, and before the panels were turned on, his boss installed a charging station at his parking space at work! He never did charge at home, and his electric bills are now down about 90%...

Re: Do-it-yourself charge station installation

last page (5) Here is the finished installation. Almost. In a few weeks when my i3 arrives, I will mount a holster on the wall. about 5-10 feet to the right of the station that is directly across from the i3 charging port. The holster was ordered with the LSC 25. A friend with a Leaf came over to ve...

Re: Do-it-yourself charge station installation

page 4 ... I cut the existing 240V wiring and then attached both ends to the outlet. That will keep the dryer outlet live, but only one can be used at a time (and the dryer is not used!). This brings me to my first issue. The single width box is too narrow to work with these wires and outlet. They f...

Re: Do-it-yourself charge station installation

page 3 ... Time to cut a hole in the garage drywall. The outlet box attaches to the drywall and does not need to be next to a stud. However, my dryer vent pipe was behind where I cut the hole, so I had to move the hole 1” over, putting the box up against the stud so that the outlet box would not hit...

Re: Do-it-yourself charge station installation

page 2, continued... I chose not to do a hard wire so that I would have easy access to a plug for quick disconnect should anything go wrong. The circuit breaker is far away. I bought the hardwire version of the LCS 25 because it came with a 3’ pigtail and it plus a separate plug was cheaper than the...

Do-it-yourself charge station installation

I decided to install my own i3 charging station, after getting quotes from BMW/Bosch. Bosch wanted $1200 for a 30 amp Bosch unit ($500 less than the BMW unit for same capability), or $750 for a 16 amp Bosch unit with a 12 foot charging cord. I have a 30 amp circuit nearby that will support a 20 amp ...

Re: Folding exterior mirrors

Still waiting for my i3 to get off the boat, but according to the on-line manual, below the rocker switch used to adjust the outside mirrors is one or two other buttons, depending on options. The right one is a left-right slide switch to determine which mirror gets adjusted by the rocker, and the le...

Re: Do you have an i3 on order and awaiting delivery?

You're mostly right. This is voyage 74. No stops on the East Coast this trip. Arrives Port Hueneme on 8/15. Here she is leaving Bremerhaven... Do you mean I was wrong about her sinking? Oh, good! Thanks for the update. Using your info, I found an NYK week 27 schedule for Lyra Lead[e]r V.74 that goe...

Re: Do you have an i3 on order and awaiting delivery?

For those of us with an i3 on the NYK Lyra Leader... It left Bremerhaven July 19, with a stop in Rotterdam on the 20th, and Southampton on the 22nd. Unfortunately, it may have sunk, as it has not been seen for 2 days and 7 hours! (See: http://www.shipspotting.com/gallery/photo.php?lid=1844624 .) May...

Re: Optimum regenerative braking

I'm going to try it! Although I'll be doing about 75mph at the bottom.... but then instead of using the energy of the car to charge the battery I'm just letting it go free by allowing the car to speed up, and turning it into heat when I hit the brakes on to avoid the bend. Coasting is usually most ...
