Re: Edmunds TCO - Fact or Fiction?

Yes, totally bogus numbers. Look at the fuel costs listed - $2,959. That calculates out at almost 6,000 miles a year running on the REx? That would work out to running on the REx 50% of the time for an 'average' mileage car. And maintenance at $6,930? The first three years of maintenance are include...

Re: Which versions of the AC compressor have people had failures with?

The replacement that I have installed over the weekend was from them, not the original one from Hannon Systems. Maybe the Hannon Systems AC compressors were the ones (early years) that had the failures, possibly a quality control in manufacturing issue, with BMW eventually going to Mahle Behr for a...

Re: Which versions of the AC compressor have people had failures with?

On my 2017 i3, the original compressor was manufactured by Hanon Systems, Portugal. Checking deeper, I think you are right - Mahle Behr makes several BMW AC compressors, and on a third-party parts site listed the i3 in with a bunch of BMW models, but think that is an error. Other sites only show Ha...

Re: Which versions of the AC compressor have people had failures with?

Curios , who makes this compressor.
I believe the i3's AC compressor is manufactured by Mahle Behr GmbH & Co. KG, Stuttgart, Germany.

Re: Lost Socket Nut in Front Bay

Your local auto parts store should have a magnetic parts retrieval tool, which is a small telescoping wand with a strong magnet on the end. You can try poking around with one (with the HV battery disconnected) to see if you can latch on to it. On Amazon you can find them as well, including ones with...

Re: Estimated full range is always LOW

Since you have a REx, run it down until the REx kicks in, then put it on to charge with a departure time and preconditioning set, so it does a cell balance, and see if the range improves. If it doesn't, you may have a bad cell.

Re: Estimated full range is always LOW

Are you setting a departure time and setting preconditioning when you charge?

Re: Fuel stabilizer a good idea if you don't drive much??

Usually when you store old cars - you fill the tank up to the top - so that there is only fuel and no air - no air - no oxygen - fewer reactions. ***WARNING - WARNING*** DO NOT DO THIS WITH AN I3 ALWAYS let the tank fill to the first off click of the pump AND STOP! Overfilling the i3 puts fuel into...

Re: Fuel stabilizer a good idea if you don't drive much??

Could you describe how you activated REX at 75% of charge without coding please. Many thanks What Deutsch is getting at is though everyone calls it 'coding' your car to be able to activate the REx option - it's not coding at all. It is using an App to unhide or activate options built in to the car'...
