Re: 175 19" ep500 vs ep600 tires for i3

Can someone who knows how, quantify what that extra 20mm of extra rubber on each side of the car will translate to as far as sq inches of more grip. Exactly 0 additional contact patch area because the contact patch area depends only on the tire's inflation pressure and the weight that it supports. ...

Re: Winterizing my i3

I picked up my new-to-me i3 the day before an ice storm late last winter. Boy was it nerve-wracking to let up on the "gas" when I felt the wheels were losing traction only to make it worse!!! I'm familiar with snow and ice, and I'm familiar with with rear-wheel-drive as well, but I was not prepared ...

. . . my i3 begins to pump out warm air by the time I pull out of the garage. It's totally incredible!
Or before you even open the door . . . This morning heading off to school, my daughter says of my preheated i3, "Ooh, the car is warm -- thank you, Daddy."

Re: Heated seats.

You will love being able to precondition the car (especially when it's on the charger) and having it all nice and comfy right when you get in it. And unlike ICE cars with remote start, you can do it in the garage without killing yourself.

Re: From one funky EV (i3) to another (Arcimoto FUV)

They claim the F stands for "Fun" That would have been my guess, since I don't think it's big enough for the other thing. BTW, are there snap-on windows or "isinglass curtains you can roll right down" or anything? I see it has a windshield wiper, but that could be pretty miserable in rain or snow.

Re: bought a 2019 i3 rex. do i need to code gas tank?

The logic with the coding is that the gas tank had to be dumbed down in operable size due to the percentage of miles vs the electric miles. To meet requirements, the gas range can't be even with the electric range nor even within close proximity. I forget the exact numbers but that's the logic. So ...

I assume that it's street-legal in the USA as a motorcycle?

Are there helmet locks inside? At least in NY State, *any* motorcycle requires a Class M license and all riders/passengers to wear DOT-approved helmets.....
Helmet locks? The guy who stole my Honda scooter left the helmet.

OP: Depends on your electric cost. Ours is $0.068/kwh. The i3 gets 3-5 miles per kwh. Assuming 4 miles per kwh and a 25 miles of driving per day, you'd spend ~$0.43 per day on electricity.
Where on earth do you buy electricity for less than 7 cents/kWh? Hydro-Quebec-land, perhaps?

Re: Windows slightly opening when opening/closing door...

When I had my i3 tinted, I asked my tint guy the same question. He said it is no problem, as they stick a screwdriver in the latching mechanism to trick the door into thinking it is closed and thereby causing the window to go all the way up. This allows the entire window to be tinted. So you could ...

Re: real world range for a 2019 i3 rex? electric and gas?

94Ah? I think 145 is really optimistic in the real world. You might approach that on a beautiful day (68F/20C/293K), on level terrain, without headwinds, at moderate speeds, assuming you'd preconditioned on the charger. Not ludicrous , just optimistic. 120 miles is a more realistic expectation in go...
