I've previously posted about charging mainly at 120 volts (https://www.mybmwi3.com/forum/viewtopic.php?t=16598) and this is still my primary MO for the i3.

However having recently added a Volkswagen ID.4 to the household, it was time for a dedicated L2 installation, something I've been putting off due to complexity of the job at our detached garage, and lack of need.

Well, I finally dug in! Technically, I cut in, jackhammered, cored, then dug. Haven't patched everything up yet, but the main task is complete and it's in service. WOOT!

I wrote up my installation with photos on the VW ID forum, linked here :

All said, it's been nice getting a quick max boost of juice into the i3, although I also spruced up my 20A circuit so I can charge both cars simultaneously. Primarily, though, I continue to plug in to a 120 volt socket for eight hours at a shot at work.

3 months in and my wife and I both think it's great.
