Range warned me I was limited because Rex tank was going empty. Yet I still had 7% electricity left. Car lost any acceleration ability and started lost all epower bars. Turned on my hazards and stopped on the side. Once I restarted the car it gave me all the 7% power available and epower back. I was able to make it home no problem 2 miles away. I’m guessing this was a safety feature?

I'm guessing that this unjustified behavior is due to a software bug. An i3 is always propelled by its electric motor, so there's no reason for propulsion to stop when the REx engine runs out of fuel as long as charge remains in its battery pack.
