Wireless charging does not fit large phones

I have just taken delivery of my third BMW i3, the 120 Ah. I am largely extremely pleased with it, especially the extra range, which can be up to 200 miles on eco-pro plus.

I paid £395 for the wireless charging and enhanced Bluetooth. Only to find that the wireless charging unit in the armrest cannot fit The iPhone XS Max. This is absolutely bonkers as the size of phone is hardly unusual. It is the same size as the larger iPhones produced since 2015, and is smaller than many Samsungs.

Clearly the unit is not fit for purpose. I’m trying without much hope to secure a refund from BMW.
 
In the U.S., and least, the BMW wireless charging unit mounts in a cupholder socket, not the armrest, and the BMW site doesn't show a snap in armrest mount available for the i3 and iPhone.

The US importer chooses what options, packages, and accessories it carries. It would be nice if they at least made them all available for special order, but sometimes, you have to revert to importing them yourself. There's a neat rear bumper cover sold as an OEM part in the UK...I had my sister send me one, for example.

Are you speaking of an aftermarket adapter? I have a 2019 Rex and the wireless charging pad is in the armrest.
