i3 charging LED broken?

The LED strip that changes colors around the charging socket, is not working on my i3 2014.
I have unfortunately never found a discussion regarding this issue.

I could probably change this LED part myself, but I would like to know if the part itself is broken or if there could be another problem.
Anyone out there that needed replace the LED, or found anything else wrong (fuse, wires, electronics for the LED)?

Does the vehicle actually charge?

Never been a problem charging. Just the LED not working at all

As you can see on one of the pictures, there is an electrical connector on the back.
Possible it got disconnected?

I think that I´ll have to pick it apart and have a look.
Don´t think that the charger door opens automatically after you push it (I think that it should...?)
So as I suspected, maybe the issue isn´t the LED but something else.

Update.
Bought a used LED “frame”, took 5 minutes to replace it. Works fine now.
Old one filled with water, probably someone fiddling with it earlier and broke it so it was leaking.
