I've got a 2017 i3 and some black spots have shown up on my nav screen.

I've never wiped it with liquid of any kind.

I guess there's a slight possibility that something splashed up there, but that seems remote, too, honestly.

I've tried wiping them with a soft cloth, but nada.

There were two and I just now noticed a third. Boo.

Has anyone else had this happen?

Any suggestions?

Thanks!

Any pictures?
I've taken apart the entire screen because I bought a 10.2" to replace the standard 6" but the 10.2" I bought was broken. From my experience one thing that can cause black spots and this is a huge maybe there might be a damage to the polarizer film that is present on all LCD screen. You can replace the polarizer and the glass but its tricky and can cost maybe $100. I have a 6" screen that I can sell to you, it has no problems.

Apparently fairly common on older model screens. My '66 plate i3 (2017 model) with a 6.6" screen developed this problem by itself. It grew from a tiny splodge a quarter inch across, to bigger than a 50p piece. My second hand car warranty eventually replaced it for free with a BMW item, claiming it cost the insurers £2.25k!
I've since replaced it with a 10.25" screen, and a minor amount of coding later, I have a brilliant large screen. All for less than £400 incl' the coding software. The garage insurance didn't want to know when I offered to save them money beforehand. Go figure!

We have a 10.25"OEM screen in stock, its 400 GBP including ENET-OBD adapter, coding service and UPS shipping from EU. Let me know if you interested!

This was fairly common at one point. No idea of the cause - there are YouTube’s on how to replace the screen - isn’t that difficult and parts are available.
