I have a 2014 i3 Rex around 40k miles. Recently this front compartment lid (hood) light started lighting up, when I checked the hood its actually closed. At first I would reopen the hood and either slam or give it an extra push then the light goes away. After a couple times doing this now the light and beeping is constant no matter how I confirm that the hood is really closed. I suspect its the sensors but am wondering if anyone else had this issue and what was done? Thanks.

I don't know the answer, but the answer is probably somewhere here. I found instructions for adjusting the stops that support the hood, so maybe adjusting these stops so that the hood is lower when closed would fix the problem. This could probably be tested when the message is being displayed by having an assistant gently push down on the hood to see whether the message goes away. If not, maybe the latch needs to be adjusted.

We had experienced such an issue when our i3 was only 5 months of age on May 2015, here in İstanbul.

You can find my posts regarding the situation via this link (or the one at the bottom) : http://www.mybmwi3.com/forum/viewtopic.php?f=15&t=2763&p=25691&hilit=frunk#p25691

Conclusively, I paid a visit to the dealer's technical support facility and they changed the relevant indicator in a 2 days period (free of charge). Then, we never tried such a glitch anymore.

;)

Hope this info will be useful...
