I did end up buying an i3 and it came with a fob cover on one of the keys. I want to get one on the other set. However, I am finding that there simply is no supply of this part... There was one link to a dealership in Tacoma, WA but they cancelled my order the next day saying they were out of stock. Everything else that shows a price is overseas and I suspect are scam sites. Does anyone know where to get one of these things?

Looks like BMW discontinued the covers back in 2018 and has not superseded the part with something else.

I ordered some covers from AliExpress and look forward to their arrival, in a month or two. :(
oh? Do you have a link to that?

A search on AliExpress.com for something like "BMW i3 key case" will turn up a number of options.

freaking awesome! Good search terms, agree. I never thought of searching for that to find a replacement. Thank you

As I also tried these key fob covers and was severely disappointed in them. So I ordered a couple of these leather cases, not unlike these ones: https://www.ebay.com/itm/Unisex-Leather-Key-Wallet-Case-Holder-Purse-Keychain-Bag-Ring-Organizer-Pouch-FM/401831814277

I would say they're a bit more better built, the ones I have. Coupled with keyless entry, we never need to take them out anyway. Looks really classy.

The fob itself, IMHO, is a poor design as there's a button right on the edge that is just way too easy to press when you don't realize it. I did buy the covers, and put them on backwards to help protect the buttons. If you want to attach it to a chain, you'd have to poke a hole, as the existing one is then in the wrong place.
