We were a two LEAF household until this week. After an extended test drive of the i3 in December, I wasn't sure that we'd end up with the BMW. Resistance was futile, though. ;)

Here was the write-up from that LEAF-i3 comparison:

Cheers!

With most bevs going CCS for Level 3 charging, including the i3, Chevy Bolt, VW egolf etc, I feel the authors concerns about the smaller CCS network giving the advantage to Leaf is misplaced. CCS stations are being added at a rapid rate and CCS is strategically backed by all American and German car manufacturers. So the safer bet is CCS.

What statistics are you based on for the comparison?

So far BMW is committed to a whopping 100 level 3 CCS. As for Chademo (in US)...

Timeline of (CHAdeMO) quick charging rollout:
- January 2013: Approximately 160 CHAdeMO chargers installed nationwide.
- January 2015: More than 800 total U.S. quick chargers installed and active.
- April 1, 2015: 1,100 quick chargers expected nationwide.
- April 1, 2016: 1,700 quick chargers projected.

By the time CCS catch up, it may be time for me to get a replacement for my i3.
