Placed my order at the Hong Kong dealer yesterday for the BMW i3.

Just want drop by and say hi to all prospective i3 owners. ))))

Do you have any idea of a delivery date?

Am I right in thinking new cars in Hong Kong are rather expensive..... are there any incentives at all to buy Electric Cars in HK?

No delivery date yet.
Not even the final price confirmation.

The i3 without rex might be tax free.
With rex, it should qualify for HK$75,000 rebate.

It could be 2014 before I get my car ...

The official price for i3 has not been fixed for any asian country yet.

Question is how much am I willing to pay for it?
I have been looking at Lexus IS350h recently.
And then took a closer look at the 3-series, 320D.

Granted none of these are EVs but what if the i3 with rex is priced
more expensive then the models above?

I have test driven the 2014 IS350h.
It looks way more decent than the i3, the hybrid drive is really refined.
The cabin is comfy and it handles well.

Meanwhile the BMW 320D has amazing torque (over 300Nm).
Handles even better and I know for certain much better than the i3.

So I hope the i3 is priced reasonably in Hong Kong or otherwise ...

I ordered my i3 on the 16th of August and was told by the BMW garage that it would be delivered in November. Got an email from BMW Customer service yesterday to say "We have yet to receive confirmation of the specific delivery date of the vehicle, however, I can confirm that you should have been advised to expect delivery in early 2014".

Which part of the world are you in?

I am in Scotland just across the channel from the BMW factory. I have sent an email to customer services asking them why the delivery date has changed so drastically?

Did you order a Rex version?

Yes ordered the Rex version fully loaded.

I then wonder if, at the beginning, only few Rex i3 will be delivered.

I heard that rumour when I went to try the BMW i3... Some people were talking about the fact that the Rex version would not be the main production at the start, and so only a few would be delivered in 2013.

An interesting question would be to find somebody who placed an order for a non Rex i3, and see what date was annouced...

I read on the net that BMW thought that the biggest percentage of orders, in the beginning, would be for the Rex version. This is because of range anxiety.
