Did it only become available for the 2019 model year and later ? I have a SparkEV with Onstar - data only . Works great , but expensive . 11GB - $70/mth + tax. I usually get 1.5GB for $15 . But when travelling this summer , I bumped to more data.

Yes, my 2017 94Rx has one, which my phone automatically logs into the moment I enter my car.

I don't know if it was an option in Europe, or standard fitment, as mine is a Mr. Porter spec and has literally every option box ticked - apart from the heat pump.

My 2021 has the option. BMW USA offered it only for the 2019–21 model years. I don’t know when it became available in other markets though the previous phone integration system that used snap-in plates in the center armrest was offered in Europe from the start of production.

The 6WD WiFi Hotspot was bundled with 6NW Wireless Charging. Not sure I would have selected the option if I’d done the configuration but I bought from existing inventory after US production had ended so didn’t have much choice. I didn’t bother to enable the included 3-month or 3GB trial because we have unlimited data on our phones and never need WiFi-only devices in the car.

That said, I really like the wireless charging. It actually charges my iPhone faster than Apple’s ubiquitous 5v cube. I pop my phone in the charger almost every trip and have never run into overheating issues mentioned in a number of online reviews.

You’ve got a very rare version. Wisely Automotive posted an overview of the entire model history last summer and estimated only six Mr. Porter editions were in the UK.

As I am a journalist, specialising in the luxury industry, I was able to get in touch with the CEO of Mr. Porter who told me that the plan was to produce six - however demand wasn't as strong as expected and only four were made and one was kept by BMW. I also discovered some other interesting facts - the cars were brought to the UK in Caparis White, and were then painted in their unique colour by Rolls Royce, one of whose craftsmen then hand painted the white pinstripe on the flanks of the car.
BTW, my car came from Wisely, who got it from BMW at the end of a 3 year lease.
