Traffic jam assist retro

Hey guys I'm looking to retrofit traffic jam assist. I already purchased the missing module but I'm having really bud luck trying to remove the airbag cover. Any help will be appreciated.

EDIT: I just went and looked, I guess it is not, there are two holes on each side, I tried jamming a screwdriver in there like this video appears to do and nothing really happened. Surely a body shop or someone that works for a dealer can look it up.

EDIT 2: I've always though the i3 wheel looks like an early mini wheel so I searched youtube for a video on removing the mini airbag.

I couldn't see any screws in those holes but while messing around some more I spun the wheel completely upside-down to get a better look at these two holes in the back of the back cover at the top. Perhaps these release the cover?

hello fedie, I am very interested about this retrofit. I am trying to do the same with drive assistant plus and traffic jam. I see there are a lot of changes that I must do. My i3 has parking assistant and for that reason I think I need to do the next:
S5AR+S5AT....change steering wheel button
add jam ecu module
add kafas camera
add kafas ecu
change windshield
change warning button console
change steering column indicators button
tseering wheel wire....

Please tell me how is your retro.

Hey everyone, just thought I'd chime in. I've successfully enabled traffic jam assist on my i3 (with some info from osunick). I have a couple videos and photos of it that I will post in a bit. I suggest reading the first post of this thread http://www.mybmwi3.com/forum/viewtopic.php?p=39963#p39963 if you are looking to retrofit. Basically, US based i3s do not have the necessary wiring harness to get the retrofit working out of the box. The Facebook post shows this too.

Rather than going about rewiring the car , I've created a module that can be installed in the footwell and will allow you to enable traffic jam assist (provided you have coded it on). No new steering wheel, touch module, clockspring, or wiring harness is needed ( according to the Facebook group: $1200 in parts and ALOT of work to install ).

hahaha. Yep, only the module is needed (given you already have adaptive cruise control and the kafas camera). There is some light wiring but it's all localized at the fuse panel.

I guess I never thought about the other models, but the part numbers seem to be interchangeable so I'm inclined to believe it's platform independent.

>> If you vo code your i3 to enable traffic jam assist (I'll provide instructions with the module), the "increase cruise control distance" button becomes the traffic jam enable and the "decrease cruise control distance" will cycle through the distances (going from 4, 3, 2, 1, 4, 3, etc... car spaces).

I'd ballpark the price around $300 for the module, fuse tap, wiring, instructions, etc..

For those of you without esys, I'm going to try and see if I can enable TJA through bimmercode only. I'm also going to try to see if I can create a TJA-specific obd connector that will code your car without you having to do it yourself (long shot but "technically" possible).
