This is nothing new and thieves have been stealing cars for 10yrs using this method. There have been updates that have made it tougher but nothing will stop the really intelligent hackers from getting around it.
13k miles no issues and use is about 75% electric and 25% Rex, wife is down to commuting 2-3 days a week instead of 3-4, Rex use to do almost 200 miles a week. Dealer is probably gonna be surprised when I am in for another Rex oil change so soon.
2019 i3 Rex fuel tank is confirmed to still be 2.4g, although the spec says 2.3g, dk if its rounding lol
Battery is 42.2kw with only 37.9kw usable. So 8kw more than current, so thats 26.7% increase, 152 miles give or take on electric. Combined with Rex your 220-230 miles.
Maybe they are just unlocking it to 2.4g like most of us have already. Perhaps what they are saying is the Rex will have the same % range increase not the same total mile range as the battery.
A fully charged lithium ion battery will always ready 4.0v in a idle state and 3.4-3.7v under load, normally 3.6v. Its how Dewalt scams people that their tools are 20v when really they are 18v (5 cells x 3.6v), they are 20v in an idle fully charged state but can not be more than 18v under load.
