    Charging cable not releasing

This seems to be a very common defect on i3. Book a service appointment and get it fixed or replaced. FYI. the lock has to work perfectly in order to get DCFC session started, if you are lucky enough to have one near by

Turned in my car at lease end - Final Comments

What is considered as "cooler weather" in North Carolina? I'm in Canada. Last Dec, as one of the coldest in recent years, I don't think my i3's range ever went below 100 km (62 miles). My car parks in unheated garage. But then mine is a BEV.

    Power in Cold Weather

If you feel the car is sluggish in cold condition, most likely is the tire pressure. I park outdoor and when temp drop below freezing, I can feel the car won't handle as good. I got a cheapo digital tire inflator - which will shut off at preset pressure and check pressure regularly. This...

Do you have any picture that can share with us?

    Canada

Hi cdnji, can you check Highway 17? SFPR and the new connection from Highway 99 to Tsawwassen terminal. These would be good benchmarks. Thanks

    Canada

Does anyone in Vancouver area upgraded to 2017 map? Worth to update? In some areas, like Delta, the map is pretty out-dated, but I am sure those roads are much older than 2014.

    Planning a long trip

May be there are different i3 GPS versions. Mine doesn't. I programmed it to go home and the route is over 2,000 ft drop, but it complained not enough range, the calculation is based on the consumption rate when I went up.

    Planning a long trip

If you have iPhone or iPad, try the Trip Planner in the PlugShare App. This feature is only available in iOS version (for now - I hope). It is under "Me" (for whatever reason). Someone mentioned the elevation tool in another page, I found it to be very useful. When you go up a mountain...

    Charging time question

Which software version you are using? there is an older version slow down charging. My experience is that with 30A / 208V, you will only get about 5.7 kW. Mine will take about 2.5h from 50% to full. i3 will take its time to fill up from 90% to 100%, usually 1 hour or a little bit more.

    Canada

We really need some good news! The CCS situation in BC is very depressing. The wise-men (person!) in our BC government decided to install all the CCS DCFC outside of Vancouver area, which i3 is selling. Only until very recently, we have ONE(!) dual standard DCFC in the whole Metro Vancouver...

66 mile round-trip commute Monday to Friday

This is one example that using metric system is easier :-) … REX engine is 34 bhp or 25 kW According to the range for speed article in bmwi3owner.com at 100 km/h (or 62 mph), power consumption is 18.5 kWh/100km or 18.5 kW ; at 120 km/h (or 74 mph), power consumption is 22.7 kWh/100km or 27.24...

BMW Genius here! What is your i3 motoring advice?

+1 .. My dealer has been saying their DCFC is "coming soon" since 1H 2014. You can only say "coming soon" for so long. There are three BMW i Dealerships in Vancouver, none of them have CCS, even for service/testing. BC Government does have one demo CCS in Vancouver, but they would only...

Noisy driver window when opening and closing

I have the exact problem. Initially, the dealer keeps blaming my car is dirty. Well, the passenger side is as dirty as the driver side, but it never squeaks. Last Dec, when I took the car in for software upgrade, I complained again. This time, they found the problem is caused by a defective...

    Public charging station?

You may want to check with the Park Board or the City. The charging stations likely are funded by provincial government. They should be open to public.
