Using a rex , according to what I understand, you are only doing 13gms of co2 per km.
This is about one tenth of what an average ice family saloon does and as things are at the moment you don't have to pay road fund duty if under about 100 gms per km.
So as far as I can see you are still helping...
Does anybody know if when charging from a domestic outlet you can use an extension lead.
I understand this is not recommended because the extension lead can overheat( not sure why).
When staying with friends they often are happy to let you charge from their domestic socket and so are hotels but...
On balance I agree with what you say but it is weird that the people who are supposed to know don't seem to.
When I bought my i3REX I asked the sales girl what happens if you run out of petrol but still have some charge left in the vehicle
and she simply said she didn't know. At least it was an...
This is the reply I got from BMWi3 chat,
'I can confirm that the BMW i3 REx petrol motor performs exactly the same as a conventional vehicle, a strainer system and integrated fuel tank filter would prevent debris from entering the fuel system. We would never recommend allowing your vehicle to...
Hi Steven,
Yes what you said makes sense and its nice to know if I run out of petrol in the fast lane of the motorway I won't suddenly find the regenerative breaking turns me into a sitting target.
I have done a few long runs about 200 miles approx.
On those occasions I started off fully...
I'm still not sure what the situation would be in the following situation:-
Say I swap to the Rex at 75% state of charge as we can in UK/EU and I inadvertently run the petrol tank dry. Will I be able to manually re select going back to the battery by cancelling ' hold state of charge' ? I don't...
Just wondered what happens if you use up all the available petrol. Does the car stop as I would expect so I imagine you would need to swap back to electric and make sure you have a bit in reserve so you can get to the next petrol station ?

Harold Wood

Its a long story but because I insisted that Sytner Harold Wood repaired my car my insurance company wouldn't loan me a car, only if I took it to their authorised repairer ,Trust Ford at Barking. They no doubt would have taken it to the same place anyway.
Unfortunately you can't have it both...
Finally got my I3 rex back yesterday and it looks better than new. I can't say I enjoyed waiting 4 months for the repairs to be completed but I still love the car.
I don't think BMW should be selling cars without warning customers that it can take so long to do accident repairs.

Yes I had to claim on my house insurance for garage damage and your right it is also Churchill.
I'll worry about increased premiums early next year when I get them .

Well done PhilH,
I don't know how you did it but its much easier to see now how clever I was at demolishing garages and wreaking i3rex's.
I am much happier now I have been loaned an i3 which actually has a more expensive specification than the one I bought.
Mine should be repaired by 30 Sept...
