    Structural fatigue?

I wouldn't say there is anything wrong with it. I looked at a brand new i3 just now in my stall, if you look along the door sill areas that are carbon fiber, you can see somewhat of a white-ish colar also at seems and such. I'd say its related to the manufacturing process, and not fatigue. -Carl

BMW i3 REX - Taking too long to charge on Maximum Setting

Maybe there should be a thread talking about kilowatt vs killowatt hour, instead of hijacking this thread.

BMW i3 REX - Taking too long to charge on Maximum Setting

I just double checked the training manual for the i3. It says that with a KLE, and a single phase 32amp power supply, it should take 3-6 hours to fully charge the car. I don't believe that there is anything that has to do with the current software version. I've been pdi'ing them for two...

    Check Engine Light

If there's something that talks about an overhaul time frame I've never heard about it. The engine is essentially a scooter engine out of one of BMW's scooters. I've never seen literature in the workbook for the i3 about a so called overhaul interval. From the literature of the i3 work book...

BMW i3 REX - Taking too long to charge on Maximum Setting

I'm just telling you what I've seen in the last 3 months worth of PDI'ing new cars. My repair book from BMW says 3-4 hours, clearly its not accurate if everyone is saying it's taking longer. They've all taken 5-7 hours to charge. It doesn't really matter what the documentation says, if it's...

    Check Engine Light

If you're intending on driving until you almost run out of fuel, fill the tank, and then continue to drive another 40 miles without charging the battery, until your tank gets low again, then yes, that may not be the car for you. That's not only hard on the battery, but the engine as well. Will...

BMW i3 REX - Taking too long to charge on Maximum Setting

This picture shows the start time, and how long it took to charge exactly. We are using a Chargepoint charger, rated at 6.7kw/h. With the vehicle set to Maximum charge setting via the iDrive This vehicle is a brand new i3 just off the truck, with 15 miles remaining before dead battery. It...

    Check Engine Light

I believe that the overheating problem was not the original point of this thread. What the initial topic starter was refering to was the intermitant check engine light that would come on. This was a known issue for U.S. i3 REX vehicles, and was caused by a software error in the IHKA...

    Check Engine Light

That is correct sir. The REX engine is designed for a emergency backup, not to be relied on for day to day driving habits.

    Check Engine Light

For those of you wondering if your i3 REX software is version 2.53.3 with the updated IHKA software to correct intermittent check engine lights, the only way to know if you have the latest software is to have your Key read by your local dealer. You're looking for is version I001-14-07-503 on...
