The car also needs to be coded to tell it that it now uses the Type2 plug. The car reads the CS/PP wire differently as a type2.

Working on the car on and off while using it as my daily commuter, it's all completed!! As it was said, it's easy, but only once you know how. It also involves coding of the car, bimmercode won't do it, and pending on the year of vehicle the wires won't be a straight swap. Not a DIY job unless...

I'm not sure if this info will help but my car is the BEV 94ah bought in march 2017. We've put 50,000 km onto the car. I checked the secret menu max kpa I think it's called, showed 29.5.... We charge mostly every night and put about 80 km per day onto the vehicle.

I thought so too, but I've found it isn't working. The problem is the CS or PP wire. On the type 2 it seems to have a different job compared to the Type 1 CS wire. More reading required... To get it working I've modified an adapter Type 1 to Type 2 cable to go straight thru regarding the PP wire.

I've done what you have, changed an american bmw i3 to eu plug. I'm stuck though on how to get the car to recognize the eu plug???? Could you expend on what you did to make the EU socket be recognized in the i3?

Has anyone on here actually swapped their CCS1 for the CCS2? There's not a lot of info out there and it looks do able.

I hope the 2017 cars can be charged at 11kw by connecting the second and third phase on the existing charger... Is anyone from New Zealand with a 2017 that can confirm this? If so, I'll start chirping at my BMW in Oz to have the port changed right away :)

Awsome! That's not too bad a wait...Ours was ordered in October 2016...End of March Delivery for Oz. Here they were pushing the BEV 94ah... Rex version not so much. Either way can't wait!! :D
