    Enabling iDrive Office.

It might simply be your phone settings. When I enabled the office functionality for my iPhone I also had to go into the Bluetooth menu on the phone and press the small ‘circled i’ next to the vehicle connection. From there I had to enable “Show Notifications” (you may also need to enable...

    Some data on capacity loss.

I see the same trend, though I noticed that estimated remaining kWh was reset at software upgrades performed by BMW. BMW i3 side mirror repair costs

Sorry to hear that vespaman. I haven’t gotten around to fix mine yet, but the research I did I while back led to two possible solutions: 1. Remove mirror glass, then remove cover (2 on realoem picture). Then somehow extract the holder (4 on realoem picture). 2. Remove inner door trim, detach...

    Bimmercode App experience?

Hi Bob, thanks for the review and walk through of the BimmerCode app. I don't have a REX, but having programmed my BEV a few times using e-sys on a laptop I appreciate the attempt of making the mobile app. From the DEMO mode it seems that the Expert Mode of BimmerCode works similarly to e-sys...

BMW i3 side mirror repair costs

mrsmith, How was the procedure of disassembly, do you remove the mirror by popping it out or is there a plastic shield you have to remove? I need to change my plastic chassis as well. (Stupid gate post...)

i3 94ah range at highway speed

Thanks for your real world feedback. I know my numbers are very pessimistic and should be taken as a worst case (continuous 110 km/h / 70 mph at freezing temperatures). It would be interesting if 94 Ah owners could access more than the stated 27 kWh. Personally on my 60 Ah BEV the available...

i3 94ah range at highway speed

I've pondered the same swap myself and even got a quote for the swap from 60 Ah to 94 Ah at a local BMW repair shop (in Denmark). The price was 75000 DKK (~11000 USD) so I'm waiting until my current 60 Ah battery pack degrades or the price decreases. I went ahead and did some estimates based...

Going down an icy, slippery hill

Hi Asun, Glad to hear you escaped with with only a dent to the rim. I've seen enough videos online of slippery conditions with huge pile ups to know how bad I can end. In my experience the regen is disabled when the vehicle detects wheel slip, so while this could potentially cause the rear...

Is Constantly Accelerating and Regenerating More Efficicent?

Schnort is right, and a simplified explanation is to see the batteries as a bank account. Acceleration is then a withdrawal from the account and regeneration is a deposit. For every withdrawal the bank will take a small fee and the bank will also take a fee for every deposit you make. So by...

    Coding the i3

I had similar problems, and found out that there was a new "wrapper" program that can help you decode the CAFD files. This is because BMW apparently removed any description from the CAFD files in newer car softwares. The "wrapper" program is called E-says launcher (either Pro or Premium, can't...

    Snow?

No, the display will show "0000" when you initially press the button but revert back to the stored value after a short while. Just remember to keep the button pressed until the service menu pops up. It will feel like forever, but just keep waiting.

    Snow?

Actually it is possible to disable the traction control. BUT this will temporarily disable regen (the auto brake function that recuperate energy) and ABS, so be careful if you follow the instructions below. I was very surprised how well the i3 coasts, especially when the muscle memory expected...
