We have had our first 2017 i3 with the REX for over 2 years ago that we purchased in 2020. We just bought our second i3 another 2017 with the REX at the end of this year.
These quirky little cars are so incredible and fun to drive when we had the opportunity to get another one we couldn't...
Thanks Eneka for sharing, I found the code under "Instrument Cluster" in expert mode and it did the trick. No more annoying beeping sound everytime I go into reverse. Bimmercode is "AWESOME" an absolute must with so many cool things you can adjust and make custom on your i3. :D...
Wow, that's pretty amazing 3200+ mile trip in any EV would be challenging for sure. I think if your going to go on a long road trip like that in an EV you have to have an adventurous way of thinking. Having to stop and charge can add some extra time to the journey, but at least you get to...
Welcome to the BMW i3 forum Spamouflage !!
The longer you own your i3 the more you are going to absolutely love it. It is so fun to drive and the styling on he inside of this car is super cool. BMW i3 is a very unique vehicle and those who have done the research understand the reason why they...
Hey 125mph,
I found the best way to to maximize your mileage on the i3 is to drive until your battery gets down to 75% then kick on the Range Extender "Hold State of Charge" (as agzand mentioned above) so you are now running on the REX and keeping the battery charged at a higher percentage. Use...

I actually live in SO Cal and drive about 70 miles a day to work and back. When I fully charge my...
I have to agree, leaving my charger (EVSE) plugged in all the time makes the most sense for sure. I'm so happy with my level 2 charger (EVSE). Such a difference from the level 1 charger (EVSE) I was using. Plus I love the the fact that ChargePoint Flex has the app were can keep track of all your...
Hi All,
Super excited that I just had my Chargepoint Flex charger (EVSE) installed in my garage. Do you guys unplug your chargers (EVSE) when your not using them, or do you just leave it plugged in all the time?
I love the fact that they installed LED headlights on the i3. I work a lot of crazy shifts and late night hours. Having the LED headlights are soooooooooo good. Super bright and great visibility !! Thank You BMW

Hey PanamaMike, I like to run the REX on my 2017 at least once a week for 10-20 mins. The good thing about coding your i3 is that you can use "Hold State of Charge" anytime after your battery charge is 75% or less. Then you can turn it on whenever you'd like. Keep in mind...
Definitely having the "REX" kick in at any point below 75% SOC, such a cool feature. Also using the full "Fuel Tank" option. I mean a half a gallon of gas isn't that much, but on an i3 it's almost 20 extra miles just incase you need it. :geek:
Well KrisM, I took the plunge and finally coded my i3 the other day. Your right it is "Amazing" and I'm glad that I ended up coding my i3. I was nervous as well, but the VeePeak OBD and Bimmercode app made it really easy. Thanks for your input KrisM - Happy Holidays
Hey Guys... Thanks for the feedback regarding the i3 reliability. I didn't know that the i3 actually got a better score the the Honda CR-V for Quality and Reliability. That is great to know !! I'm really happy with the purchase of my i3. I ending up coding my i3 with the Bimmercode app to...
