Scheduled charging using i3 settings and departure time

Unless this has changed in 2018 models, low-cost charging and preconditioning are independent of one another. Both require a departure time to be set, but on our 2014 BEV, I could low-cost charge without preconditioning (2 separate iDrive checkboxes) or vice-versa. However, I don't see a way...

Scheduled charging using i3 settings and departure time

Thanks for the info fellow members. Just spoke with BMW genius and apparently in order to use scheduled charging via the idrive control, departure time must be set. I was informed that if departure time is set, then climate and battery preconditioning is automatically performed and there is no...

Scheduled charging using i3 settings and departure time

2018 Rex My short experience with scheduled charging is that a departure time must be set in the idrive settings to enable a time period in which the i3 charges at home at the lowest utility rate. Being that I have TOU rates, that would be 12am-6am. After reading some more posts, should I...

Picked up 2018 i3S REx today

Mine is a imperial blue 2018 Rex but with the 428 wheels, non S model. The dealer had a fluid black and a red S on hand when I leased mine. I would have taken the fluid black if it wasn't an S pkg car. I couldn't see myself spending $3k more for the S, though I think the S looks better; wider...

    Trailer Hitch

The ecohitch is one I had my eye on but it requires a very visible hole in the lower rear bumper skin. My guess is that it would be a $700 ding at lease return for a hole in the bumper. That along with the high cost of the hitch had dissuaded me from considering a hitch. Mine is a 2018 and it's...

turning Rex on after coding, 71% SOC, no engine start

The Rex did indeed fire up after a few minutes and reduction in battery % as mentioned. Rpm was definitely slow at first but it did increase after a few minutes of running. Regarding 6% or 12%, I read somewhere that the only option to change automatic Rex startup to was 12% using bimmercode. I...

    Trailer Hitch

I took a look at the execuhitch.com site and found no listing for the i3. Any link or info? Since mine is leased, concern over a hole in rear bumper at time of return exists. Thanks

    Bimmercode App experience?

This should be where it's at, bkombi, 3005. My 2018 Rex showed 8.5_litre already, so not sure exactly what you should change value to, but I would assume either 8 or 8.5. Change the values to reflect the following values : bkombi 3005 -> TNK_LITER_RECHTS -> mcv_rex_liter_kl_rechts 3005 ->...

turning Rex on after coding, 71% SOC, no engine start

My expectation was that the instant I checked the hold box, Rex would turn on. Your explanation clarifies the process and what needs to happen. I'll give it a try and see what happens. Thanks

turning Rex on after coding, 71% SOC, no engine start

Gas bar definitely changed colors. Last time I drove a Rex was a 2014 when I purposely ran battery down below 6% to see what would happen. I clearly heard the engine switch on and felt the vibration. This time, no add'l sound at all. I wondered if the muffler had become much more effective but...

turning Rex on after coding, 71% SOC, no engine start

Coded my 2018 i3, USA, 250mi from brand new, for "hold state of charge", among other things, seemingly successfully. Driving car around today w/approx 71% SOC, and checked box for "hold state of charge" in display. I could not hear the engine start up. Tried a few times from stop, driving, etc...
