Key fob won't open or start car

I [and others] believe the i3 is very fussy about the quality of the battery/cell. I only use Duracell ones. (I won't buy Duracell AA or AAA etc, but that's another [very leaky] story.

Frunk cover - which is better

Alternatively, get a length of pipe insulation foam to fit over the front lip of the frunk. Cheap and effective - a plumber would probably give you an odd length to save them throwing it away! Note a clean frunk, despite my penny-pinching use of two different pieces!!

12 volt battery in later i3s--watch out

Because you said: I haven't found a way to charge the 12v battery with a charger and then said ... with which I can charge the 12v battery Which was contradictatory. Maybe you meant that you couldn't [easily] *until* you realised there were terminals in the engine compartment? Sorry to be so...

12 volt battery in later i3s--watch out

Is this what you meant to write? I don't understand it.

    Hi Guys,

It seems most keys now transmit signals (but they may 'go to sleep' if left stationary) which can be picked up and used to unlock and mobilise the car. The answer is to keep the key fob in a metal box [etc] so those signals are contained [cannot be picked up].

    Highest Mileage i3/REX?

I had to chuckle at your:- "real" B'ham :) Depends I think on the use of 'also' - I took to mean it's a recall in the US (but then I'm very literal... :( )

    Highest Mileage i3/REX?

Can I assume you're in Birmingham, Alabama, [or ...] not B'ham UK? I have a BEV, so tend to skip over talk of the Rex, but I know there are some problems with the pressure sensor for the fuel tank. (I think htey impact on getting it open) I read also it's advised not to fill the tank too far...

    Hi Guys,

Oh, ******** ****** ****** ****** *****! I've just spent ages writing an essay on the pros and cons, went to enter a temp degree symbol (ALT+0176 on my keyboard) and everything disappeared. So, in brief: Door handles are awkward too much down menus on touch screen Lane assist always comes on. No...

    Hi Guys,

Googling (as you do) I bumped into a thread to which I wanted to contribute. So here I am. I've owned a July 2016 Protonic Blue ( ❤️ ) BEV for nearly 3 years, and love it. Now we've replaced the big family car with a Hyundai Ioniq 5, which is good in many ways, but not as nice as an i3! John

    Yes…BMW Honors Their Battery Warranty

I know this is an old thread, but we i3 owners in UK are quite clear that Max Kappa isn't to be relied on, the figure you see there depends on many things.
