Wireless charging does not fit large phones

I have just taken delivery of my third BMW i3, the 120 Ah. I am largely extremely pleased with it, especially the extra range, which can be up to 200 miles on eco-pro plus. I paid £395 for the wireless charging and enhanced Bluetooth. Only to find that the wireless charging unit in the armrest...

    How important is Drive/Park Assist?

Park assist is neat, but it’s clunky and slow to use. In London, parallel parking is common, but when you have an impatient line of traffic waiting behind you, using Park Assist is stressful! Automatic cruise control is brilliant - it makes driving much easier. I’d never have a car without it...

    Next model after 120ah i3

At my local BMW dealer last week, I mentioned to the service agent that I was considering changing my 94ah REX for the new 120ah model, which here in the UK no longer has the REX option. She said that she had heard BMW is phasing out the REX altogether in 2019 and that the 120ah is a stop gap...

BMW i3 - The 'I' stands for 'Irony'...

Speaking as someone on their second i3 Rex, I can say that it only really works as a second car. Long journeys take quite a bit of planning, as you have found out, and can still be stressful because the outcome at a designated charging point is binary. You either get juice or you don’t. It might...

i3 94ah range at highway speed

Blimey. That's impressive. I'm not going to say you cheated, nor indeed that you must weigh less than my wife. Better stay quiet.

    Dash Cam

I think what I was saying in my post was that I have had many difficult interactions with insurance companies, where they have acted unfairly. Lucky you, if you haven't. I have never made a fraudulent claim, or lied about an accident - as you imply - but when I do make a claim, I understand, as...

i3 94ah range at highway speed

The 94ah has consistently exceeded my expectations, and reminded me that I am not the most economical driver. What I can say is that my wife took the car to work this morning, and the statistics on the BMW App are astonishing. Distance 41.6 miles Consumption 5.3 mi/kWh Duration 1 hr 16 min...

    Dash Cam

I think an integrated dash cam would be great in principle. No messy after market cabling. But the trouble is that insurers could demand to see footage. As conscientious i3 drivers, I am sure we would never be in an accident that is our fault. But I would rather have the option to declare dash...

i3 94ah range at highway speed

Just traded my 60ah i3Rex for the 94ah Rex. I do a 42 miles each way commute, of which half is at 70mph on active cruise control. Range is up by at least 50%, probably slightly more. As all the commenters here have said, your local conditions make a big difference. Temperature, wind, speed...

    i3 Tires - A disaster

Had 2 flats in 2 years. I think the the tyres are closer to bicycle tyres than car tyres!

    BMW i3 Trade-in value - surprisingly depressing

I guarantee your trade in value after 3 or 4 years will be even more depressing. The technology is moving fast and we're all early adopters. Speaking as someone who had a Mitsubishi iMiev before my i3, I can only say I'm enjoying the ride, and will depreciate the car fully over 4 years or so...

I3 seats causing back pain ?

Yes definitely casing me neck pain. It's something to do with the angle of the steering wheel and the low seat position relative to the pedals. I commute 42 miles each way, and after a few days I have to go back to my other car due to the discomfort. I'm 6'2" so that's probably part of the issue...

rex range in the uk winter time

60, maximum 70 miles in winter on batteries alone, is my experience. Below 5c, batteries severely compromised. 5 - 10c OK, above 10c almost acceptable. Just sayin'

    i-Remote app: desiged by amateurs

Agree with all the posts above. It's an App designed by engineers, not someone who's ever designed something for consumers. Given that it's a software fix, hopefully a new version will come out soon.

Actual usage of DC charger on a REx

I find the DC charging is impressive (and worth it, while it's free with Ecotricity). I strongly suspect that it will pay for itself on resale, and that it'll likely make resale easier. But the fact is that anyone who owns an i3 today is an early adopter in a field of rapidly changing...
