    i3 Horn sound

Italian wiring required……connect the horn to the brake light circuit

    20" rims

FYI....in the 19” size there is now the option of buying the new Continental EcoContact 6 tyres, a far better tyre than others in that size.

So the interior door handle just broke

When ours snapped I rang the dealer and he knew the issue and ordered the part ready for our next visit to the area, under warranty.

So the interior door handle just broke

Not unheard of, happened to us the lug on the handle that the little spring that retains the handle in the flush position snapped off, just a simple dealer fix.

How often long should I run Rex?

Just keep a minimum amount of fuel in the tank, less to go bad and less needed to add to it to keep it good, although having said that we have had the REX for 3.5 years and the only running it gets it the maintenance cycle and maybe once on a very occasional long run each year, we keep the tank...

    Improve aerodynamics for better mpK

Down here in Cornwall we get storm force winds slightly inland as well as coastal, say around 50-60 mph winds, easily enough to lift the windscreen wiper off the glass and fold it back on itself, first time that happens it’s a bit of a shock........I do admit though at those wind speeds (not...

    Improve aerodynamics for better mpK

This is something I hear a lot from i3 owners, but I can honestly say ours is very stable at high speed (70 mph) in very high winds including crosswinds, they get very strong down here. I can only assume ours has either spot on wheel alignment/geometry and dead on tyre pressures (always checked)...

    Improve aerodynamics for better mpK

Which direction was the wind in either direction/test run, what speed was the wind in either direction/test run what was the road surface temperature during each run including tyre temperatures, do you know the logging error parameters of the BMW onboard read out?

    Improve aerodynamics for better mpK

Nah, just the duct tape over the shut lines, it’s what we used in the tunnel when tracing flow.......

    Improve aerodynamics for better mpK

Don’t forget to tape over all the shut lines also

    High Beams

I used these in our i3.......work perfectly but you must aim the main beam correctly, from the factory it appears the high beams are aimed VERY LOW presumable because they are so crap with halogen bulbs, these work without any error codes throwing up, and the beam pattern is good, very much...

    REX maintenance question

Last time my REX turned on to run the maintenance cycle the battery was at roughly 85%.......never before done it over 75%, I wonder if there has been a software update?

    Heated seats.

Where on Earth.....well in the UK are you getting that deal from please? Sounds too good to be true.

Charging speed for 120h UK i3

Have you set the charge rate in the menus to Maximum, as these are usually set to minimum at the factory (for safety).

real world range for a 2019 i3 rex? electric and gas?

With the new 120......you should get at least 150 miles quite easily, providing your not canning it down the Motorway for all those miles.....

    Rear Bumper Guard/Protection

The Rearguards version also come in a Carbon Fibre finish, which matches the i3 very well.

    Check Engine Light on 2019 i3s :(

A normal OBD2 reader will cancel the warning light, providing your reader isn’t a very cheap one that only reads! I have only ever had one CEL on our MY17 REX when the exhaust gas sensor went awol, the dealer replaced the sensor and both injectors under warranty, that’s the only fault we have...

    Charging time household plug

We use the supplied “brick” a Kopp made one (the good adjustable load one) and have done every night for over three years now, no issues at all, it takes roughly 9-10 hours to charge from almost empty as I recall, although the car is never really near empty so it normally charges to full in just...

NON OEM wheels & tires (wider)

Basic dimensions are the same for wheel fitment but the hubs will be engineered differently therefore not the same, Mini has front hubs designed to take a driveshaft, the i3 just has RWD type hubs without the facility for driveshafts.

NON OEM wheels & tires (wider)

Very much doubt that, as the Mini will be front wheel drive it will use completely different hubs than the i3 (most likely normal Mini hubs) and looking at the Mini EV early pictures the wheels are not the “tall and very narrow” type that the i3 uses. As for sourcing i3 tyres, I needed a new...
