    Mystery power drain from mains

You're right, but I don't believe the 12v is charged directly from the wall unit. The 1.3kw (about 3.5amps) would be for the main battery asking to be topped off, after a constant drain from trying to charge the failing 12v. That may not be likely, but it did seem reasonable to me.

    Mystery power drain from mains

We had a similar experience before (an unexplained 1.3kw draw) and not long after the 12v battery had completely failed. Just guessing... it may be trying to charge a failing 12v battery.

    New subsection for the forum?

I was thinking these same thoughts. Thankyou "psquare" and "Mikes" for posting this.

    Cargo cover for the trunk?

Thinking back a year... I remember the cargo cover was only included as standard for the Tera series in 2014, for the Mega and Giga it was optional. Some M n G cars came with the option listed, but others did not. The Mega we test drove for three days did not have one. I looked it up a year...

Inconsistent Regen Braking in same mode

We've been seeing this same behavior since a software update in July. We first noticed the regen was less than before the update, enough so we had to retrain or selves a bit. Then more recently the inconsistent regen braking started which makes it challenging to go without using the brake. We...

Trouble using keyless entry on driver side

I was having a similar issue when I first got the car, occasionally the door would require 2 or more pulls to open it, or simply not open. Two different things were happening preventing the door opening. 1. I was pulling the handle to quickly and had to train myself to pause for barely a half...

    Stuck in Park position

We have our i3 back now and it seems to be working ok. BMW service found several faults, replaced the Head Unit, reprogramed with latest software, ran several test, discharged HV battery then charged fully and re-tested. "All high and low voltage test find no fault post repair" I think they...

    Stuck in Park position

Update: Three days after we got the car back this warning came up, "Battery discharging while stopped: Start engine. If fault persists, consult service center." We had this warning a few times before the first 12v battery failure, so I'm thinking that if the warning is ignored the new battery...

Can't program Homelink Garage Door Opener

Mine wouldn't program either, until I cleared the door opener of all codes. Seems that our unit will only store max of 10 codes and over time with several remotes and cars we already had used 10. Once you clear it you will have to reprogram the remotes/cars you still use or they wont work...

Failure to stop completely (without brake)?

The first month we had the car I had same issue with rolling forward when stopped, sometimes it would hold and other times not. I found out later, the simple fact is the car does not have a hold forward feature with normal stopping, it only holds from rolling backwards. The hold forward is...

    Stuck in Park position

Update: We got the car back today and it seems to be working ok, so far. The work sheet listed cause: low voltage of 12v battery = cell incomplete circuit. After testing and charging the battery and testing again it was found to have an open cell. Battery was replaced and new one registered...

BMW I3 -Most Dangerious Steering Of Any Car I've Owned!

We have over 10,000 miles (7 months) on our i3 and the two things we dislike the most are "steering sensitivity" and "harsh ride". We determined this after our 3 day test drive, but the cars range fit our driving habits, was otherwise fun to drive, and with the flexibility of the Rex was a near...

    Stuck in Park position

Problem resolved. Roadside assist respondent connected a 12 volt battery to the onboard 12v and was able to power up long enough to put car in neutral. Then he disconnected xtra battery and car shut down but stayed in neutral, so we pushed it onto driveway and he loaded it on his truck. Car now...

    Stuck in Park position

Anyone know how to get car out of "Park" so it can be pushed out of garage and loaded for transport to dealer? Car only powers up briefly and displays warning "Drivetrain malfunction", transmission shifted into park, do not move, call roadside assist, then goes off again. The car was working...

    Intermittent Sat radio issue resolved...

I am surprised it works at all in the service bay, every time I pull into my garage the Sat radio goes off. (one story single family home) Think it nees clear view of sky to work. Had one before and sometimes while driving in a downtown area with tall buildings it would go off.

    Highway Speed Swerve

FWIW, Both of us experienced what we thought to be no dead zone when the car was new, but now at over 8k miles I can feel about a 1/4in or maybe a little more "dead zone". This is all I can think of that is different: 1. We have more experience at driving the car. 2. 8k miles break-in on the...

    i Remote on Apple Watch

I found that even with the iPhone app the screen does not always update, but you can use the screen drag down/snap back feature to refresh the information. (as opposed to closing and opening the app or logging out and back in) Maybe this feature also works on the watch?

    Garage Door and Charge Cable

Most overhead garage doors I've had actually stop short by 1/2 to 1 inch and only the seal contacts the floor. Unless yours if different you should be OK running the cord under the door.
