Make cameras, GPS, and sonsors into a 'dash cam'

I have the same dash cam but haven't set it up. Do you know the impact on range, and if it will record on impact in a parking lot with this setup?

Make cameras, GPS, and sonsors into a 'dash cam'

BMW could even only use ~ 1GB of the hard drive space for the dash cams, saving recordings on impact and on user command.

Make cameras, GPS, and sonsors into a 'dash cam'

The i3 has 40GB of usable storage on-board, which is easily enough for a dash cam especially seeing as most owners don't store music on the i3's hard drive. A front/rear dash cam using both cameras on cars that have them would be great.

Battery charge indicator range increases 20%

Odd actually. My brand new i3 with the latest update actually estimated a much lower range than achieved. Based on experience tracking my miles per kW/h that seems like an accurate estimate for an Eco-conscious driver.

Whats the best lease deal ever?

EV ownership is very smart for too many reasons to count, but also for all the incentives that wind up back in your pocket.

Whats the best lease deal ever?

Congratulations! Wow, being in an EV sales tax-exempt state I didn't realize sales tax was charged on the capitalized cost; I was under the impression it was charged on the monthly payment or amount financed before rebates.

Active Cruise Control... Not Quite So Active?

Is it normal behavior for forward collision to not intervene if I have it set to early and let me end up inches from someone's bumper? Even without ACC enabled, I figured forward collision should work 90% flawlessly.

Active Cruise Control... Not Quite So Active?

I'm trying to give the i3 some excuse for appearing that it wasn't going to brake at all, but I can't find one. I even checked the make sure the forward collision warning was on.

Is Constantly Accelerating and Regenerating More Efficicent?

Ah, I understand. So x miles of regenerative braking would net 1kWh. The description BMW provides was slightly unclear.

Active Cruise Control... Not Quite So Active?

Good points you bring up, as the Tesla Autopilot in its current incarnation would just follow the school zone speed limit with no regard for posted times. As the driver still has to be alert the driver would be responsible for manually setting the correct speed outside of school hours.

Active Cruise Control... Not Quite So Active?

I hypothesize that perhaps the main reason it didn't stop for me was the battery was close to full when I tried it so there wasn't enough capacity to regen or I wouldn't completely rule out driver error although it got dangerously close without me intervening so even if I had accidentally...

Active Cruise Control... Not Quite So Active?

The Tesla Model S does it, and while I accepted that it won't stay in its lane in the U.S. like Tesla Autopilot, I just assumed after seeing the speed limits posted next to the speedometer in a test drive that one of the reasons for that was so the ACC can adjust for speed. That would be a...

Active Cruise Control... Not Quite So Active?

One of my i3's few disappointments thus far has been the Active Cruise Control. At best, it whizzes along with slightly more intelligence than a standard cruise control. At its worst, it's a worrisome piece of technology that feels unreliable. Perhaps the system is just now being demystified as...

    P vs Start/Stop ?

To piggyback off your thread... I notice that when I put the car in park it usually inches forward a slight bit, even if the car was fully stopped either through regen or having my foot on the brake. My CTS ICE exhibited similar behavior when I let my foot off the brake after setting the...

max batt kappa and range boost: I001-16-03-505

I'm now a new REX owner easily able to average 5.3mi/kWh on Comfort no less.
  16. T

    More range?

My REX managed 5.3mi/kWh on its second longest trip of about 40 miles, and this was with some hard acceleration. In fact, I beat an obviously modded Supra and a CTS-V off the line. If the usable range is in fact 18.7kWh on the REX as well that's a 99-mile range that I'm sure I could get to over...

Is Constantly Accelerating and Regenerating More Efficicent?

What about in comparison the equivalent constant speed in an i3? Of course, only "pulse and glide" when there's nobody behind/around you to avoid the crash step .

Is Constantly Accelerating and Regenerating More Efficicent?

I figure that perhaps you get more energy overall with i.e. aggressive regeneration to 0 as opposed to a conservative regen to 0 but that may be incorrect and if so a conservative regen may be better for the tires. I hypothesize that a conservative regen would put less wear on the tires, in the...

Whats the best lease deal ever?

Good for a 2016. You could do much better on a 2015 but it might take months for the 2016 to be cleared out as aggressively.
