How many miles do you have on your i3?

15,000 miles here after one year ownership in my Rex. Unfortunately, I have to hand it back next week, which I will be quite sad about. I have no issues at all (although my partner reports that she has seen a couple of warnings appear when using Rex - I've not been able to replicate the...

    Day 1

All perfectly normal, I'm surprised the dealer didn't mention it. You'll quickly become used to it.

any UK Bev'ers completed a 300+ mile journey?

I think your head needs to tell your heart to be quiet. I would not attempt this journey with a 5 year old in tow. In fact, I wouldn't attempt it with any passenger. As a solo "adventure" trip maybe. My experience of Ecotricity DC charging is that it fails more often than it works.

    Hold charge function

Tim, that behaviour is quite normal. When the Rex fires up, the remaining charge in the battery is used as a "buffer" so it's quite normal for the level of charge to fluctuate.

    UK Finding/ using recharging points

I went on a trip to the NEC yesterday to see the Autocar show, and tried to charge at two Ecotricity sites - Corely North (M6) and Warwick South (M40). Both CCS chargers threw up errors and failed to provide a charge, despite several attempts. I called the Helpline but got a message - please...

    Charging accounts in UK

I agree it's a total mess. I was staying in a hotel next to a BMW Training Centre. Right in front of the building, they have a number of dedicated EV parking spots, and charging points. They all say "i3 only" I think. They are all empty. So I walk in, explain that I am staying at the hotel...

    40% LOSS OF BATTERY RANGE

What speed do you drive at? 70km sounds very low indeed, unless you are driving at 90 mph.

    Charging accounts in UK

Just what we need - another new provider with another new system for paying for a charge ;)

    Charging accounts in UK

Actually, there are three different charging plans. You've got the £20 p.a. subscription. I went for the pas a you go model. Then there's a monthly subscription version. All three have different charging rates. http://www.chargemasterplc.com/index.php/polar_online/

    UK Insurance - some peculiarities

Could you send me an example of the problem? it doesn't have a tracker.

    Charging accounts in UK

ChargeNow - the card does not come with the car unless you have ordered one of the mobility packages. This network is the same as the Chargemaster / Polar network. I applied for the pay as you go version (you have to deposit £20 credit) using their app - they sent me a RFID some days later. My...

Charging problem with 220v cable (europe)

If you are using the Type 2 AC connection, then the i3 can only charge at 7kw, even if it has "rapid" charging capability. You can only get more than 7kw if you use a CCS DC connection. PS have you used the charging at Geneva Airport?

UK Model Year 2015 i3 will have Winter Pack included

It's very difficult to know what impact preconditioning the HV battery has, since there is no temperature gauge. How long does it normally take to get up to temperature?

Actual usage of DC charger on a REx

I've used DC charge a few times, but only using ecotricity points, and then only when I had time to kill. To be honest, it's not something I would miss. I certainly wouldn't pay Chargemaster £7.50 to use it. To my mind, Rex really negates the need for rapid charging.

BMW i3 as company car in the UK

I may be missing the point entirely here, but isn't the disadvantage to the situation you describe the fact that you have to buy your own car (out of taxed income)? If the question is - what is the cheapest way to acquire a new car?

BMW i3 as company car in the UK

I am a company car driver, and changed my 520d for an i3. My annual cost savings are approx £2k in tax and £2k in fuel. So a cool £12k over the term of my 3 year lease. I highly recommend it.

    Weather change... reduced range

I've got a 62 mile commute. In the summer I could comfortably do this with 30% range left. So about 90 miles range. Last night the weather was appalling - very heavy rain. Not too cold though. I managed to get 60 miles before the Rex kicked in. And the traffic was heavy so driving slower than...

My crazy 670 miles in 24 hours!

What do you mean by switching doors? I don't know if it makes any difference but I plug in the cable before starting the sign in process.

My crazy 670 miles in 24 hours!

I've used CCS 3 times so far in various ecotricity points and every time it's worked quickly and without issue. I seem to get 5%-80% in about 25 minutes.
