    Charging the BMW i3 from a 110 V/230 V socket

I' m rather interested to the kWh consumption to fill up the i3, not in particular a comparison between 230 V and less efficient 110 V (and not the time to charge it, either)

    Charging the BMW i3 from a 110 V/230 V socket

I'm not sure it' s like this, I hope to see inthe next future a balanced test (from 0% to 100%) to figure out that

    Charging the BMW i3 from a 110 V/230 V socket

my understating is that it's much more difficult to charge the "last" kWh than the previous ones, a cleverer sample should be to charge the battery from zero to 100% - if you have time and opportunity to do this experiment

Ok. thank you all I'm very keen to know your numbers

    Charging the BMW i3 from a 110 V/230 V socket

How efficient is the i3 if charged from a 110 V/230 V home socket ? Have you ever tried to charge your i3 at home and, if so, how many kWh does it take from a flat (or near flat) battery to full capacity ?

    Maximum power of charging

It doesn't work so for me, quite the opposite, my home power is only 3,3 kW continuos at 220 V (16 A ?) or 4 kW for 3 hours at max plus the instantenous solar power, ~ 6 kW at max, if any (depending of the days and hours). That's why I' d be interested in a more powerful charging, particurally...

    Maximum power of charging

An other point where I' m a bit confused is which kind of charging is the most efficient, for example I heard that 6 kW is more efficient than 3 kW and so on, is that true ?

    Maximum power of charging

No, actually I'm in Europe (Italy) right now (and I' m not a BMW i3 owner, not yet at least). Thanx so much anyway, very useful infos By the way, an other problem I could face to is to have a "mobile" charger in two or more different houses (both with solar PV plants), say, for example, at home...

    Maximum power of charging

Ah, ok. So, if I started to charge at 7.4 kW then I can't swithch a bit later to, say, 3 or 4 kW (due to loss of solar power) ? Assuming I had that power, instead, does it mean that with this 7.4 kW connecton it takes only 3 hours to charge the battery, including losses ? By the way how much...

    Maximum power of charging

Thanks again. For instance, actually my main concern would be to set the charging process so that I can use the home elect power only (with no solar) or if possible the sum of solar power (when available) plus home power, say 6 or 8 kW, I hope it's clearer now

    Maximum power of charging

Thanx again, as far I understand 18,8 kWh is the part of the 22 kWh battery actually used in the i3, but there is also some charging loss, I guess (something like 80-90% at least, so those 18,8 kWh becomes 21 to 23,5 kWh depending of the kind of charging). That also means, if I understand it...

    Maximum power of charging

By the way, how many net kWh does it take to fully charge your i3? Does it change anything from a pure BEV and the Rex version ?

    Maximum power of charging

Thanks for you answer. Actually, I haven' t any electric car, yet, but I'm trying to find infos how I could maximize my solar PV potential and the devices eventually needed - the optimal should be to have a device capable to set different power levels, depending on the solar PV production in...

    Maximum power of charging

What is the max power I can charge the battery from my home charger (220 V, 3 kW) ? I say that because I have a ~ 6 kW solar pv that can give me an extra 2-3 kW on a regular basis, so could I charge the battery from those 10 kW, at max ?

    Ethanol/methanol for Rex

Just curious, is it the Rex capable of using alcohol fuels (like etanol or methanol), too, neat or in a mix with gasoline ?

    Loading after a short drive

no longer pratical in a "pure" electric vehicle, yes, but in a serial hybrid (i.e. with REx) is a totally different story, because even those tiny 20 or 30 km of battery range remaining (say, after hundreds of thousands km or miles) make the car still perfectable usable. If it's so - i.e. almost...

    Italia

Io !

    The EPA range

What is that 18.8 kWh ? is it the fraction of the battery actually used/charged ?

kWh used per charge and battery specs

Hello, all! My first post here! Just curious, did you have any figures on how many kWh does it take to fully charge the i3 battery (for example, from a traditional 220 V, 3 kW socket) ? And which part of the total 22 kWh i3 battery is actually charged ?
