Hi All,

First time poster here. I purchased a 2020 BMW i3s last year from BMW in the UK, one previous owner.

It doesnt look like it has the external pedestrian noise module fitted.

I wondered if there was an option to retrofit these or if any forums members had done this?

My local BMW dealership are next to useless and don't want to know.

Hello dbrimley, and welcome to the forum!

Have you had a chance to experience driving an i3 WITH the Pedestrian Sound Module? If not, I'd recommend seeing if you can find an i3s that has the option so you can determine if you are ok with it.

My first i3 was a 2014 (which had no external sound module) and the pure silence of driving it was an everyday joy.

I upgraded to an i3s in 2021 which does have the external sound module. I find the sound it generates to be highly stressful and far too loud, especially in the cabin.

The concept of having an EV make sound to alert pedestrians does make sense, but the audio file that BMW went with for the i3 (and its volume) is a big miss.
