Buyer's Remorse - Range Disappointments Continue

I have 15 miles highway at 65 mph and 17 miles secondary roads at 60 mph. But lots of elevation change. 1500 ft climb/descent each way. I have been to work and back twice using no heat, staying at the speed limit and have arrived home with 3-4 miles remaining. My all trips consumption is 4.2...

12 volt battery in parallel to the existing 12 volt battery

Thanks for the input. I ended up using the 12 volt outlet below the arm rest. That has worked well. Thanks also for posting the pin out on the amp. I wired mine with outputs tapped from the HU but now might go back and take the outputs from the front woofer outputs from the amp.

    Actual Subwoofer

I added a powered Infinity Basslink sub with much help from the FB forum. It was pretty straightforward since those guys had figured out the connection issues. I tapped the HU outputs as described below. I used a twisted wire pair which terminated in RCA plugs. I tapped the front outputs rather...

12 volt battery in parallel to the existing 12 volt battery

Thanks. That is helpful info. I will likely pull a trigger for on/off from one of those fuses and then do power from the 12 volt outlet for easy plug and play. I have RCA on the leads from the head unit, a 12 volt cigarette lighter plug and then will put a quick connector for the trigger. Should...

12 volt battery in parallel to the existing 12 volt battery

Thanks for the information. That is where I was leaning. The constant draw at even medium volume is less than 2 amps so only 24 watts. I am trying to make this plug and play and pulling power from the 12 volt outlet will make it easily removalable. I am parking the sub behind the passenger seat...

12 volt battery in parallel to the existing 12 volt battery

Excellent points. Yes, the accessory outlets shut off after about 20 minutes, so you are correct that at that point the external battery would be applying load into the system with possible unintended consequences. A diode would prevent that and I think the small voltage drop associated with the...

12 volt battery in parallel to the existing 12 volt battery

Hi, Any engineers/electronic experts willing to offer some advice? I have been testing a sub woofer installation. While I was doing that I was running the sub from an external 12 volt battery while I evaluated the amperage draw. For my needs the average draw was only 2-3 amps which would mean...

    Switched 12 volt connection

Thanks for the input. 200 watt peaks are rare. Having run a similar sub in different setting I found average pull of only 20-30 watt. It has level adjustment and about half volume would be plenty. So, I suspect that adding the sub would have minimal measurable effect. I plan to have it...

Pin out information for the HK amplifier

Hi, Just wondering if anyone has access to the pin out info from the HK amplifier. I have the diagram from the PDF info that was posted on FB but it doesn't show the actual pin out info. I want to tap the speaker output from the HK amplifier as the input to a sub woofer. I would prefer the...

    Switched 12 volt connection

Hi, What kind of terminals are those? Any idea what kind of amperage we could draw off them? I would love to use the switched terminal to power a 200W sub woofer. So, would need somewhere around 16 amps. Thanks for posting that info. Very useful. Mark.

Holding on a hill.... brake or accelerator

If that is the case then it would imply that there is no downside to using the motor to balance the car on an uphill using the accelerator, unlike slipping the clutch in ICE car.

Holding on a hill.... brake or accelerator

Hi, Just wondering. Often stop on an uphill without using the brake. Is it OK to hold position with the accelerator even though you are stationary or should you use the brake? Is there an issue with giving power to the motor without it spinning? I know the car has a hill hold function so that...

Estimated Range Prediction / Energy Used Calculation

Anyone know how the range meter in the car correlates with the SOC as indicated by the phone app. My drive to work is 32 miles. I start from home with 88 miles and arrive at work with 56 miles remaining. So, that seems as if the range indicator is pretty spot on. But once parked at work I will...

Phone app is always out of date by a few hours

I have seen the same thing. The cell service at my home can be hit and miss but going out and about doesn't seem to improve things. Oddly enough real time traffic seems to be working despite the cell service connection being weak/intermittent. If I try to send info to the car via the app it...
