    Emergency fuel can for frunk

I have a BEV, but I hate having to carry gas two times a year for my lawnmower.
  2. D

    Would you buy it again?

YES! I love my i3 BEV. Leasing might be best for this type vehicle unless money isn't an issue.

    no garage door opener?

I have a Mega model for a reason. I purchased a small LiftMaster key fob style i3 garage door opener online for about $15. I lay it on the console and it stays put. Easy to use and I can access without looking. Improvise, adapt, overcome.

White with all four wheel types

:D The first i3 I saw at a dealer had the 20s. I thought they looked neat. Every other i3 I saw had the other three types of 19" wheels. Of those three, I liked the Mega wheels best because they looked like what you'd see on a electric vehicle. After months of seeing pictures of other i3s with...

    Tire sensor reset?

:) Hopefully, everything is resolved with the reset. I replaced my Mega wheels with the 20" i3 wheels. I ordered the wheels and sensor from BMW parts online. I installed the sensors myself and had the tires mounted. Did a reset and surprisingly, everything works as advertised. I was impressed...

    :D Very nice, twice.

How do you charge at home in the US? What charging station?

:D Hi Christian, plenty of topics on i3 charging here and on the internet. Do a Google search and you'll find plenty. I can't imagine having a i3 without home access to Level 2 charging. Plenty of EVSEs (chargers) on the market. Amazon.com has a variety they sell and you can do a comparison on...

    Update on KLE replacement problem

:) I hate the need to return my i3 to the dealer for the KLE update and software reprogramming. Not a big fan of any dealer service or maintenance hassles. But, I'm in no hurry. I'd prefer to wait awhile for my dealer techs to prefect their technique and for the KLE inventory to increase. My...

:o Please tell me this is a joke?

Buyer's Remorse - Range Disappointments Continue

 I've had my Prius Plug In for two years and my i3 for three months. I've learned, whatever the projected EV range is, it's still not enough. Going from my Prius Plug In with a projected 10 miles EV, to my i3 BEV is heaven. Before, I could barely make my 9.6 mile one way commute on a...

    Virginia EV taxes

:D Virginia had the Hybrid/EV tax on the books for a short while, but was rescinded by the new Governor. NO HYBRID OR EV TAX. Hybrids and EVs qualify for the Clean Special Fuels plate, at $35 per year. No real benefit in this state other than making a statement. Personalized plates are as low as...

Impressions after 2 weeks ownership: Mileage tips & more

:D Thanks for there great information from a knowledgable EVer. Prior to my i3, I drove a Prius Plug In, which I still have. I loved the Prius and couldn't get enough EV. With an average 10.5 miles range, it just wasn't enough. I was obsessed, but it was painful, Just too much effort required. I...

Knowing what you know now. Would you do it all over again?

:D I've had my i3 BEV for two and a half months with 1300 hundred miles. Zero problems. Leased mine for 2.5 years, and looking forward to a improved version then. Very satisfied with my choice, BEV, Iconic Silver, Mega, with key options (tech, parking, DCQC). I really like the Mega wheels, but...

Level 1 vs Level 2 Charging

:) Best to forget Level 1 charging, other than in an emergency. My Prius Plug In has a 4.4kWh battery and charges Level 1 in three hours versus Level 2 in 1.5 hours. Every newer EVs have larger batteries that take forever charging on Level 1. Whether you purchase or lease, make the commitment to...

40 amp charging, will it work?

:) Just for information. I purchased a 2012 Prius Plug In, Janaury 2013. I purchased a Leviton 16a EVSE, providing 3.3kW charging. I considered going with higher rated EVSE, but decided I didn't need it for the Prius. Flash forward, twenty months and I wanted a i3 that charges at 7.4kW. Charging...

40 amp charging, will it work?

:) The i3 will charge at the max rate of 7.4kW. Leviton makes a 32a EVSE that supports 7.4kw charging. I have a Leviton 40a EVSE, that will charge at 9.6kW, but again, the 13 is limited to 7.4kW. I went with the higher 40 amp and higher charge rate so hopefully, my next EV will benefit from it...

    Musing on Battery Pack

:o WOW, thanks for the education. More than just adding more batteries for more range. Satisfied with my i3 BEV as for now.

VW Golf wins Motor Trend 'Car of the Year'

:D Good for VW. I've had plenty. i3 or e-Golf? I went with the new look and technology.

Charging problem with 220v cable (europe)

:o It's been announced that all 2015 i3s will be equipped DC Fast Charging as standard equipment. DCFC is readily available on the west coast. Virtually none available in central Virginia. I have it on my i3 BEV, and hopefully we'll see these one hour charging stations available in the next year.

    Why I'll wait for the next-gen i3

:D Regrets? I have none. Driving a Prius Plug In with ten mile EV range, I was frustrated and wanted more. The BMW i3 came along at the right time for me. Waiting sucks, why wait? While I'm a certified "non impulse" buyer, but, I went from first i3 drive to owner in two weeks. I wanted 100%...
