I do not have one yet, but as you my have seen in other posts, I have been thinking about the I3 REX. Recently saw that Virginia taxes EV and other alternative fuel vehicles $64 per year. Is this still true? And does it apply to the REX since it can use normal fuel just not much of it?

Also, do we have to get the clean fuel plates? They exclude the HOV lanes in my area. However, they are also an extra fee.

Now, if considering a BMW, I can certainly afford these fees. It is just in principle that I question.

:D Virginia had the Hybrid/EV tax on the books for a short while, but was rescinded by the new Governor. NO HYBRID OR EV TAX. Hybrids and EVs qualify for the Clean Special Fuels plate, at $35 per year. No real benefit in this state other than making a statement. Personalized plates are as low as $10 extra and might be a better choice.
