    Order Time 2017 I3

We ordered our 2017 i3 BEV on Dec 21. The dealer (Braman BWM in West Palm Beach FL) got a production slot for the car on on Jan 13 or 14. When I checked yesterday, the car had been built and was waiting for transportation. The VIN has been assigned but I don't have it yet. We're shooting to get...

Turned in my car at lease end - Final Comments

Thanks for the comments. My wife's 2-year i3 lease is ending soon, and we've decided to go with another i3, but this time without the REX. We didn't have any of the issues you did, but we've only put about 6,300 miles on, and the REX was rarely used except when running a maintenance cycle (which...

swapping my i3 for a tesla model s

That's correct, the Tesla won't come to a complete stop using regen braking only, partly because it's a much heavier car. I wish it did stop completely like the i3; I have to remember it doesn't whenever I switch cars. :)

Anyone considering with a lease expiring soon considering the Bolt as an alternative to a 2017 I3?

I didn't say that, and I don't agree with that statement either.

Anyone considering with a lease expiring soon considering the Bolt as an alternative to a 2017 I3?

"That's why the 80 mile Teslas are so popular...80 miles is enough for most people" Not sure what you meant to say, but there are no 80-mile Teslas; they're all over 200 miles.

swapping my i3 for a tesla model s

You'll be very happy with your Model S. We have the best of both worlds: I have a Model S and my wife has an i3, and we like them both a lot. We use the i3 for short trips and the Model S for longer ones.

Anyone considering with a lease expiring soon considering the Bolt as an alternative to a 2017 I3?

My wife's i3 lease ends in February, and we definitely would have considered a Bolt for her next car, except that it won't be available here in FL by then. Last I heard, initial US deliveries of the Bolt this month would only be in CA and OR, and they would become available nationwide throughout...

Failure to stop completely (without brake)?

Thanks for the feedback, but let me clarify that the issues I reported in my original post appeared recently, that's why I asked about them -- we've had the i3 for more than 4 months. The creeping happens at places where it wasn't happening before, and it doesn't always happen now in those...

Failure to stop completely (without brake)?

I've noticed lately that when coming to a stop, my wife's i3 sometimes continues to creep forward very slowly after lifting off the throttle. This happens on flat roads (I live in FL, everything is flat), and it didn't start happening until recently. When creeping, the speedometer shows...

    Forum performance

Same here, over the last several days. The server doesn't respond at all, or I get a "bad gateway" error. I'm surprised there hasn't been more said about it in the forum. In case it's relevant, my internet service is AT&T U-verse.

Got the BMW gift in the mail

My wife received her gift too, with the usual BMW over-abundance of packaging material. I guess the marketing folks missed the meeting about the "green company" image. :)

    Quiet sound from Bluetooth connection

FWIW, in my wife's i3, which does not have HK, the volume is fine if you play music from your iPhone using the USB connection. My wife prefers that to BT because the phone charges while playing.

    Charging Light

The charging light stays on if you don't lock the car. I didn't see any way to configure that behavior in iDrive settings, but maybe someone else knows if you can change the code to keep the light on even if you lock the car.

    Would you buy it again?

Would we buy it again? Short answer: Yes. Longer answer: We've owned the i3 Rex for about 8 weeks. It's my wife's car, so I haven't driven it much. My wife has been using the i3 to commute about 60 miles a day (round trip), all highway, and she loves it (the i3, not the commute :-), even...

    Lease new or buy used?

I agree with Jeffj. I've also found that the residuals for all of my BMW leases have been inflated, and the cars were always worth considerably less than the residual at the end of the lease, which is why the lease deals are typically so good. I also disagree with MikeS's comment about "huge...

Home Charger - Get it from BMW or ?

I checked the reviews on Amazon.com and ordered the Siemens VersiCharge VC30GRYU. I considered a similar Bosch unit, but the Siemens had a longer cord (20' vs 18') so I went with that. I paid $549 for the unit and $275 to have an electrician install it. The unit can be hard-wired or plugged into...

    Automatic Music Playback with iPhone

FWIW, when either my wife or I connect our iPhone in the i3, it starts playing all songs randomly, which is what we want. I was actually surprised to see this behavior, because when we play music on the iPhones outside of the car, it's always from a playlist, so I would have expected the i3 so...

    Lease new or buy used?

True, but you also pay sales tax on the entire purchase price, which offsets much of the tax credit.

    Newbie

    >>> Just a shame no good deals on teh cars. I don't know where you are, but the deals are quite good is many areas, especially here in the US. There's a whole section of the forum about buying/leasing an i3, check it out to see what kind of deals people are getting...

    bmw apps

Thanks for the quick response. I'm in the US. The dealer set up the BMW Assist account before I picked up the car yesterday, and I tried to call the response center using the SOS button when I got home, but no one answered -- hopefully that was because I didn't wait 24 hours (didn't know I was...
