Australian pricing for the BMW i3

That is a great price. I was advised today that there are Australian cars being built in a July order but looking at delivery to customers November 15th. We're getting closer :)

BMW i3 to be considered for ANCAP rating

Driving assistant plus is listed as an option on the Aussie price list :( Thanks to I33t for pointing this out. BMW public relations/marketing as full of %@#t. If it's an option it's the same as overseas therefore it's a 4 star only car.

BMW i3 to be considered for ANCAP rating

I probably mis-named the auto braking :) This is it: http://www.bmw.com/com/en/newvehicles/i/i3/2013/showroom/safety.html#driverassistance "And the city collision warning with braking function feature for pedestrians helps to prevent accidents from occurring with pedestrians and minimises the...

BMW i3 to be considered for ANCAP rating

I juts read that the BMW i3 will be considered for an ANCAP test. This means there's a chance it will get 5 stars instead of the Euro NCAP of 4 stars. The Australian version will have the auto braking as standard I believe which may get it 5 stars. This will be great as most Company leasing...

What happens when you run out of charge?

I too would like to know whether there was any speed limiting or if you could just drive normally for the last 5 miles. Also do you know approx how many miles you ended up doing, including all the miles after the display went blank?

Australian pricing for the BMW i3

Yes that's the base price. Our base spec has a few extras above and beyond the base models sold overseas which is what they're using to justify a higher price than originally spoken of for launch over here. Drive away price is a term we use for inclusive of dealer delivery, registration, all on...

Australian pricing for the BMW i3

Interior Worlds pricing: NCO is no cost option. I don't understand why there's the three prices. One inc luxury car tax and then inc both that and GST. Why would LCT apply to options if the price of the vehicle is under LCT?

Australian pricing for the BMW i3

Drive away pricing for each: Electric: $70,448.10 Range extended (Rex): $76,748.10 So much for the $50K to $70K we were promised. Oh well the EV is almost $70K. I don't think they'll sell as well as BMW thinks so you may see a low km demo that sells for under $70K.

Australian pricing for the BMW i3

Looks like you found the answer to your own question :) But for the search engines - yes Lodge is the Australian standard interior. Couple of things I was told that you didn't mention that will come standard also: · Connected Drive Freedom Package with remote services / concierge...

Australian pricing for the BMW i3

Our standard wheels are going to be the 19” Wheels – Turbine style 428. The heat pump isn't there but if the heated seats are going to run $730 then the heat pump aint going to be a cheap option

Australian pricing for the BMW i3

Go the info straight from the Melbourne i specialists, the only Vic dealer for them. At $60K they would sell but not at $72K +. This is drive away pricing BTW. It's so typical of all the EV pricing here. The Volt at $66K sold how many....1? Then they drop the price to $39,990 and I couldn't get...

Australian pricing for the BMW i3

Got the info today on the pricing of the i3 down here in Australia. One word: ridiculous! Pricing for EV's over here is nuts. Is it the lack of incentives or just the price gouging manufacturers? I say this because I hear today that the BMW i3's will be priced over here at around $72,000 for...

why no Rex hold charge mode in the US since no white sticker

They've hacked the tesla and looked into it's inner workings. Don't think they've done anything but look yet though. Mind you the i3 will sell in much lesser quantities so maybe it won't get hacked unless a techie buys one :)

    REx auto kick-in point

So the way I read it you can manually trigger the Rex to maintain the level of charge you want. But it will automatically come on at 5%. If you run it out of fuel does it switch back to battery then and allow you to run the i3 right down, perhaps even out?

My thinking about EV options given my range requirements

Yes good points. As the batteries suffer the inevitable degradation we will see range drop off. I'll be interested as more people drive more km's in them to see how many km's and kwh/100km they can average while doing the daily commutes. i assume people will get more used to their cars and drive...
