I am looking at a 2014 i3 (Capparis White/Frozen Bl) with the following upgrades:
Tera World package=$2,700
Parking Assist package=$1,000
Tech+Driving Assist Package=$2,500
Heated Front Seats=$350
DC Fast Charge=$700
Harman/Kardon=$800
This makes the price $51,650.00
I am in the San Joaquin Valley of California so I qualify for a:
Federal rebate=$7,500 (which will go to the lien holder=BMW but that will come off the price)
California rebate=$3,000
San Joaquin Valley Air rebate=$2,500
I am fronting the $5,500 as down until the rebate checks come to me but I am not putting down any of my own money.
This money down covers the acquisition fee (995), doc fee (80), local taxes and fees (2004.66) and first payment (279).
So I would be paying $279/month (which includes tax) x 35 months=$9,765 over the course of the 35 month/10,000 mile per year lease.
They are also offering 14 annual nights of BMW loaner use for when I go out of town (Fiat does the same thing).
The best deals I could get under the same terms ($5,500 down/36 months/10k miles) were:
VW eGolf Premium=$231/month ($8,085 over 35 months)
Fiat 500e=$222/month. ($7,770 over 35 months)
Thoughts? Should I bite? Should I dig deeper? I like the eGolf because of the 5th seat but it isn't a hard and fast deal breaker.
Thanks!

500e price seems very high.
From craigslist:
PLAN NUMBER 1
$2400 DOWN AND $2500 CALIF REBATE
all taxes, registration and 1st payment included
YOU ACTUALLY GET IN CAR FOR """ZERO DOWN"""
36 MONTH LEASE AT $159.00 A MONTH PLUS TAX

OR

$3910.00 DOWN ( $2500.00 CALIF REBATE )INCLUDES ALL FEES AND FIRST PAYMENT=THAT'S $1410.00 OUT OF POCKET
$118.00 PER MONTH PLUS TAX

THATS $118.00 PER MONTH PLUS TAX

HURRY THIS IS A LIMITED TIME LEASE PLAN

36 MONTH LEASE AT 10K MILES PER YEAR
MORE MILES CAN BE ADDED FOR A FEW DOLLARS MORE

THIS IS ON THE BASE MODEL/COLORS/

Right, $51,650 is the MSRP. But what's the selling price? What discount off the MSRP is the dealer offering?

ryandesign,
Before going to the dealership, I constructed an Excel spreadsheet which started with the MSRP of $51,000 and then immediately presumed they would have to reduce the price by 25% off that MSRP--whether through a credit through BMWNA or Innovations Credit or a line-item credit only they know about…I didn't care. I wanted the starting number to go like this:
Price after 25% off (13,400) off MSRP=38,250 (starting price)
Federal is -$7500 = 30,750
after state -3000 = 27,750
after local -2500 = 25,250
rebates equal another 13k off for another 25%-ish and then
would equal somewhere around 288.57 for 35 months.
They came back to me with 279 for 35 months with a residual of 53%
Come to think of it, they never told me what their starting number was. They just countered with a lower number than the one I had calculated from 25% off MSRP. So maybe their number is 27%-ish? Or am I dead wrong? Help me to understand, please. This is my first lease!
Because to my naked eye, the car is half off the MSRP after their initial 25% and then the rebates count for another $13k for another 25%.

Why did you have that expectation?
