Changing the oil on my wife's 2015 i3 REx, I noticed there's the development of surface corrosion where the oil filter screws in. I managed to bend a Draper oil filter tool trying to remove it - it felt that tight, so switched to wide angle locking claw grips which did the trick. Probably due to the fact that part of the car will be exposed to moisture, road salt and grit.
Car is just at 41k miles. I rub a little oil on the sump face, and partly fill the filter and a smear of oil on the rubber gasket.
Anyway - worth watching out for.
