Last week my BEV went into the dealer for its software update, and ever since the update I have not been able to charge the car overnight using the low tariff charging settings. Car went back to the dealer today, and the charging errors showed up on the vehicle diagnostics. Just now had a call from the i3 specialist who has just been advised by BMW that their branded car chargers will now not charge overnight as a result of software compatibility issues with the new vehicle software. They are working on a software patch - not sure if this will be a vehicle or charger update. As a result I will have to continue using the charge immediately setting at double the cost! Hopefully will be sorted soon.

Or plug your car in during off peak period....

But even so... an unacceptable oversight Mr bmw.

If one ever wanted an example of just how little aptitude BMW has for software this is it. The latest official software update has disabled BMWs own branded EVSE!!! Amazing...... No wonder they cannot make the iRemote software functional.

I would have to set my alarm clock and get out of bed to charge throughout the full off-peak period. Have better things to do like sleep!

Actually... If I finish the day with about 10% charge remaining my i3 charges immediately all the way to full irrespective of any timings.... sigh..

Oh and if you want to crash your telemetry unit, just plug your car in with timed charge set, then via the app change to charge immediately. .. the car won't do ask you asked and the teletext stops communicating... needs a dealer reset. .. i have done this twice now same scenario sane outcome... tut

Fuse F115 powers the Telemetrics unit...FWIW. IMHO, safer than pulling the plug on the box. Many of those connectors are really only designed for single digit insertion/removals. WOrk great, but may not if exercised lots.

Hey that's great. Will try today. :D thanjs

To reset ConnectedDrive goto ConnectedDrive menu, then hit options on dial then "Update Services" you can then goto data transfer from the previous menu to see its sync status.

New firmware stops the immediate charge behaviour, mine now only charges during off-peak times.

In my case, repeated update requests, and BMW resetting the account, did NOT restore remote functionality...the only thing that did it was to reboot the telemetrics unit. You can either unplug it after removing the rear seat, or try removing the fuse. I think removing the fuse is easier. You should only do this as a last resort. Normally, the other things will resolve your issue IF the server itself isn't down.

As I said, in my case, they'd reset my account, I'd look, the data in the app would be null, then it would restore the old data, which happened to show total mileage about 350 miles less than actual, and that it was plugged in and charged to 100% when that was not normally the case...IOW, that data was always the same coming out of the car back to the server no matter what they did on their end, or what I did in the 'normal' operator available options (such as force an update).
