Bikes go very well with EV's. Does BMW or anyone offer a rear mounted bike rack option?

I use a very nice factory rear platform bike rack with my Mini Cooper Countryman that bolts to the rear tow eye fittings.

Manny Atunes, a NYC-area BMW i salesman and avid cyclist, raves about https://www.seasucker.com/shop/1187/. It's on my Amazon wish list. Apparently, it can mount on the back of the i3 as well as the roof.

Relying only on suction mildly terrifies me.

My recumbent trike (an IceTrike) fits fine in the rear of the i3 with the seats folded. In fact, probably the majority of miles on the i3 are getting to the trail where I like to ride. In fact, I think I put more miles on my trike than I did on the i3 last year! The advantage of being retired...

I use one of these and there's a strap there just in case a sucker pops off - which hasn't happened to me yet.

I currently use it on my Mercedes A160 but the i3 I've ordered arrives in June - I'll put pictures up then.

Hi,
try Paulchen Heckträger, https://paulchensystem.net/ :)

Good customer Service, sufficient for 2 bikes or 4 pair of Skis. Some time to put it all toghether but it was worth it. Easy to mount or unmount when it is not in use.

Which rack did you purchase? I didn't see one that's designed for the i3.

I have the SeaSucker that holds 2 bikes. Can't wait to get the i3 and see how it works. Used it on my Leaf and on a Honda CR-V without any problems. Did lots of research and overcame my initial skepticism on "suction" as well.

Just had Torkliftcentral 2" hitch installed by Tortkliftcentral in Kent Washington today on my i3 just for my bike rack. They did great job in a couple of hours, deconstructing the rear bumper and disconnecting all sensors and wires and then reconnecting everything. Watched their Youtube install video and I thought about doing it myself but when they quoted the labour to install - it seemed reasonable and a way easier option to let the experts handle the job since they have done it several times before. Hitch was ~ $300 - $30 (CAA/AAA member discount) plus labor and taxes. Came to $540 +/- all in. Used CCS chargers at Powertech Surrey, BC, Kia Renton $5, Kia Kent Free, Seattle Outlet Mall EVgo (should have been a charge but they were having credit card processing issues so they offered complimentary free charge - thank you EVgo) and level 2 charges at my cabin in Bellingham (both ways) making round trip 100% on battery (no Rex). I have a Tule swing away bike rack that allows me to get in the hatchback to let the dog in and out, sit on the tailgate etc. At least this is what I have done with my ICE vehicle previously and I now plan to do with the i3!

There also is a ski rack/snow board option that I have seen from Tule for their bike racks to carry skis and/or snowboards that I may add since I don't think I am a fan of the suction cups on the roof rack idea. Bikes, skis/snowboards are just too dammed expensive to take a chance on dropping them off the car on the road besides the potential damage and liability to someone else's vehicle(s) and possible personal injuries.
