Great conversion, Jeff! If it's within your range, you should bring your Thing to the next EV Club Of The South meeting. We meet on the third Wednesday of every month at Manuel's Tavern in Atlanta, near Little Five Points.

I'm leaning towards the i3 as my next EV, and may be the first in the state to get one. I am currently driving an early Chevy Volt ( http://www.FirstVoltInGeorgia.com ).

I'll try to make the first one I can. I striped first gear a couple of weeks ago and I am waiting on a new transaxle with a stronger first gear....

Hi everyone,

Like everyone on the forum I'm interested in learning more about the i3 and in what other forum members know about it!

Have ordered an orange non-Rex i3 in mid-september and still waiting for delivery I've understood from my dealer that only 1000 i3's will be manufactured in '13 of which 600 are destined for Holland. The reason is that we have a few tax benefits that will end this year and Holland is a perfect country for the i3 intro!

I'm glad, BMW-NL glad!

That's interesting, a few weeks ago my dealer told me something very similar although he said the number was 700 and they were all destined for Norway !

I'm guessing he got the country wrong when he told me. He'd got the info from an internal BMW meeting and he said these cars were being assigned there due to taxation legislation changes at the end of the year which ties in with what you say so maybe it isn't BS (I was wondering as not heard anything else about it). The inference was that it would slightly delay the UK orders.

Guess I had best come and say hello... Interested in the BMW I3 and have been reading the forum for a while. I have my deposit down on an all electric version, just need a test drive now to convince the wife!

Hello EV fans! :D
My name is Cara and in my day job I work for the UK Charity Zero Carbon World as the Project Manager supporting people on their transition from fossil fuelled cars to EVs http://www.zerocarbonworld.org I help communities with their transition to EVs by donating free public Charging Stations to their local hotel/B&Bs/Tourist/Leisure locations. Also help with affordable EV charging components, useful accessories, EV discussions/information and love the test driving of new EVs. I am learning, sharing and listening about EVs and people's experiences and desires to help create an easier transition to EVs for all.
I am a passionate environmentalist and eco designer and I also help volunteer in my local community finding local solutions to create resilience to peak fossil fuels and climate change. I campaign for, and aspire to, a positive eco happy world for all.
I look forward to being here discussing EV topics with you all and being part of the rEVolution to a happy EV world.
The BMWi3 is the most exciting and eco proactive EV i've come across so far from a well established and distinguished car manufacturing company. I'm really interested in getting one to drive and promote eco EVs to the masses. Am very excited to see the advertising too which is exciting as IMO there isn't enough EV exposure to the masses.

Hello ZCWcara,

Well come to the forum.

One thing I have noticed in UK is most of the people in the goverment who promote an electric vehicles DO NOT OWN ONE.

It will be very useful to have one so that you also understand what EV owners have to go through such as the pain of public charging when it is so unreliable, the myth about range anxiety etc.

I hope you own one. If not may be get a Nissan LEAF or Renault zoe to start with.

Just a thought.

regards,
ken

Hi everyone,

I forgot to introduce myself here before posting on the NCAP thread.
Sorry for that.

I ordered my i3 on Nov 16th, BEV version.

Mine will be white, 428 Turbine wheels, Lodge interior (Giga world in the US), Adaptive Led lights, heating seats, Pro Nav and Driving Assistant Plus.

Cheers from Belgium.

Hi all,

My name is Michael and I live in South Australia, a long way from most of the members here. I have to admit that I haven't followed the development of the i3 at all until I recently heard about the i3 production starting but I have since become very interested in the vehicle. Australia doesn't start getting the car until July 2014 so we have a long wait!

I almost bought a Nissan Leaf when they were released here, but got turned off by the local salespeople and Nissan pushing an expensive over-capacity EVSE on us. The bland looks didn't help either. :) The list price of the Leaf is AU$51k here, but they are now being advertised under $40k so sales must be sluggish. We expected the Renault Zoe to be a solution, but Renault has announced the car won't be coming to Australia. The i3 is expected to be $60k and unfortunately there is no government assistance on EV's here which may explain why they are slow to take off and why Renault has pulled out...

Being in a sunny part of the world we have taken the opportunity to place a good size solar PV array on the roof. Most days, we make plenty more electricity than we consume. Any EV we buy will have zero running costs other than servicing and true zero emissions.

Cheers!

Hello from Estonia!

I signed my papers, today. As we don't have any i Agent in our small country jet, I had to oder my car from Germany. The delivery date is set to May. Probably it will be the first BMW i car in Estonia! Can't wait!

Estonia is very ev friendly country. We have complete charger network built, meaning there is a fast charger after every 60 km or so. Unfortunately they are in different system and i3 is not compatible. Hopefully the situation changes soon. At home I will have a wallbox pure installed.

About myself - I am an architect with interest in energy efficient building. My own summerhouse is an off-grid, 0-energy house, meaning I have no bills but for internet connection there. My city home is equipped with PV panels in an on-grid solution. So, electrical car to travel in between seems like a smart idea for me :) X5 with a V8 will remain for backup, still.

Getting an i3 is a long-shot in my household right now... But that's a better chance than it had a few months ago...

After almost 22 months with my Active E, I guess that makes me a long-time rEVolutionary for this generation of EVs... I am currently a "low mileage" Active E driver compared to TomMoloughney at approximately 49,000 miles of Active E driving.

I have been a loyal BMW owner prior to getting my Active E (2000 BMW 323Cic, 2001 BMW X5, and 2008 BMW 328iC). I have mellowed on my dislike of the aesthetics of the i3 to the point that I now want one. However, my better half continues to dislike the aesthetics of the vehicle and may be the gating factor.

So, depending on what sort of deal BMW i will provide for Electronauts. I might get one.

Posting for first time today. Driving a 2001 Prius that I bought new in July 2000.

I'm ready to go the next step to a full EV and the i3 looks perfect for me.

Hi all, just wanted to say hello. I'm a big fan of EVs and one of the founders or http://www.plugsurfing.com - our free PlugSurfing apps to help you find a charging point in Europe (with real-time status data) but I'd also love to help with questions that you may have with EVs or charging across Europe in general.

Thanks!

Hi Adam, great work! You can find Estonian network from here. These all are new ABB chargers with 50kw CHAdeMO and 22kw type2 Mennekes.

Colors show where cars are hooked on.

Hello
Short description of myself:
My name is Thomas, lives in Denmark and is BMW fan.
At the same time, I am electric engineer, so BMWi is right for me.
Current I run X3, so I will definitely be missing 4x4 and space.
So I'm still a little unsure about X3 to be away, or stand at the back of the garage!
Are there other Danes here?

Mark from San Francisco. I've been following development of the i3 since seeing the concept car at the LA Auto Show a couple of years ago. Just had my first test drive. Impressed enough to place a so-called order with my dealer; though they will not take a deposit or discuss delivery dates yet so it's far from real.

My name is Palle. Im live in Denmark just north of Copenhagen. I work as a reliability engineer, making sure our hearing aids don't fall apart when you use them. At the moment I drive a BMW 323ti compact from 1998. My previous, and first, car was a 2008 BMW 120d. One thing is sure, and that is that I will not be driving a 16 year old car for much longer :) I have signed up to buy a i3 and hope to be using it as my only car from around may. In the meantime I just pray for more quick DC chargers to be installed in Denmark. So far we have one :)

Hello everyone, I am Jazz and I work at BMW Brighton as an i-Specialist. That is not to say I know everything, in fact to the contrary I have come on here to learn from you guys and share my experiences.

We have 2 lovely demos, a silver EV and an orange REx both of which I get to drive and work with daily. If anybody in the area would like to know more or arrange a test drive please get in touch and I will make the arrangements.

In the meantime, glad to be here and being a part of the "World of i". Still so much to learn about this amazing new concept from BMW!
