Pet peeve and possibly a coding question:

I push in the volume knob and this mutes my audio.

Intuitively, if I select an audio source (typically by pressing a hot key to select a radio station or switch to Bluetooth), I'm indicating to the car that I want to un-mute and listen to something.

Intuitively.

But the i3 doesn't work that way. The audio stays muted until I push in the volume knob again.

Is there anything to be done so that the act of selecting an audio source will be sufficient to indicate to iDrive that, Yes, I actually want to hear audio?

oh man I cuss out my car when it does this.

My E92 335i behaves like you describe; push button to shut off/mute system, change audio sources and volume comes back.

I poked around the coding options but didn't see much in the way of 'restore volume on source change'.
