According to the Google Blog (http://feedproxy.google.com/~r/blogspot/MKuf/~3/mpMDQgn5N_c/) we've got some EV friendly updates coming:

1. Long distance route planning that takes charging speed into consideration for calculating total time
2. Search charging stops based on amenities such as nearby dining
3. Sort charging based on payment type

To me these seem a bit superficial. I'd like to see some route planning based on the same factors BMW uses: anticipated speed & terrain, given their overall impact on battery usage.

In Waze, I have EV selected yet it still produces routes that are better suited to gasoline powered vehicles (taking the highway the long way around vs. cutting across town; total time is basically the same). Also, Waze constantly pops up location pins and ads for gas stations. We stopped to pick up empanadas for breakfast and a message window appeared, "Waze noticed you stopped. Getting gas? Provide updated gas prices." SMH.
