Drivetrain issue - "Do not switch off engine"

Hi Brian Hope you get it sorted. The central locking thing sounds like the suicide door issue discussed here: http://www.mybmwi3.com/forum/viewtopic.php?f=15&t=572 except that after 6600 miles you've probably sussed that by now! Interesting 3-series/Lotus/i3 combo you have there :)

    Wood Dash Panels

I wonder how they'd look with a carbon fibre coating, or something along those lines. I had the interior trim on my other car done to spruce it up a bit from the original grey plastic, by these chaps http://www.wickedcoatings.co.uk.

Adaptive Cruise Control - any good?

If you're in the UK, I know the brochure - I've pointed that mistake out to my dealer. It's definitely wrong, sorry.

Adaptive Cruise Control - any good?

Standard CC will brake to get you back to your set speed if you're going down a hill (although with regen I can't imagine a slope steep enough), but it won't maintain the gap. Only ACC will brake to a standstill if the car in front does.

Slight clonk soon after turning on

Ole from the Facebook group, an engineer, agrees that it's a brake check. His explanation (slightly edited for clarity): "...the i3 has an automatic brake washing system that maintains brake operations at all times - it will do a massive pump on every wheel (rotating with one wheel at a time)...

    Charger Locking and Timer

When you turn the car off, the goodbye screen gives you the option to go into charging settings, so it's very easy.

    Customer Treatment

At least we on this side of the pond haven't had issues with California's green/white stickers, small REx fuel tanks (or are they?), missing Monroney stickers, and a tax rebate on the REx that might get taken away in NJ.

    What Car? BMW i3 long-termer

Not expecting you to set the date round me (!), but I'll be at the Festival of Speed on Thursday 26 June.

I'd be up for a meet too, be good to compare notes!

Slight clonk soon after turning on

I did speak to a chap once who'd run over his own cat on his drive in his Lexus hybrid :( No, this sounds like a big relay or solenoid kicking in, I'd say.

Slight clonk soon after turning on

Nope, definitely not the doors locking, or anything to do with the other problem of the rear doors not being engaged properly. It comes from underneath the car, towards the front. You can feel it through your feet, through the floor of the car. Mine doesn't do it any more though, strangely.

    Connect drive not updating

Have you tried sending a "lights on" command (or similar) to the car? I find that forces an update of the charging info too, at least sometimes. Doesn't seem to work every time though.

Parking Assist & Driving Assist not happy

Yes they do, but that won't stop a close tailgater rear-ending you!

    parking assistant

I put up a video in this thread: http://www.mybmwi3.com/forum/viewtopic.php?f=4&t=623 which shows you don't need a kerb, as i think the car uses the other cars to judge where it should go. However, that brings other problems, as it can leave you miles from the kerb if they are; or worse...

Replace standard headlight bulbs with LEDs

Interesting video, but sadly none of that goes on in the i3 with adaptive LED headlights. In my car, it's actually difficult to see the beam pattern change at all as you go round corners, and there's definitely no high beam assist. Shame. Bunter, glad you like the white full beams - they don't...
