If You Hadn't Gotten the Exterior You Did

As far as I know only one owner on here has reacted to the 'five neutral tones and one colour' mix by vinyl-wrapping their i3. If anybody else has done a full body wrap (rather than just advertising decals), please show us a photo. In answer to the OP's question: none of the above. I'd like...

    Problem with finish on car

I've seen a similar problem before, on a Renault. The sunscreen etched itself into the lacquer (clear) coat over the metallic finish. I used Meguiar's Scratch-X to get it out. If you do try to polish the marks out, practice on somewhere invisible first!

Rear Passenger Windows and egress options

Nobody on the Forum has commented on the ventilation in the i3. Modern cars are much better at getting fresh air into the cabin than they are at letting stale air out. If the rear windows are fixed, how does stale air exit the car?

    CRASH .... oh. no.

My old Volvo C30 had a glass tailgate and that never gave any trouble, but it was well protected and it was designed to collapse into the back of the car rather than project shards of glass into the cabin when the car was rear-ended. It looks like this i3 was side-swiped and the glass bowed...

    Embarrassed by the horn?

+1. In my town, we have a college for the Royal National Institute for the Blind, where those who have recently lost their sight come to be trained. So I think I'll be getting the pedestrian warning noise on my i3. It would be helpful if BMW were to post an .mp3 file of the noise on their...

    Golf gte or i3

The BMW is the only car to have been designed and implemented from the ground up as an electric car. Talking out the ICE and adding an electric motor and as many batteries as you can find a home for isn't doing the job properly. And Golfs are two a penny: if I'm spending that sort of money I...

    Detailing an i3

Yes that makes sense, but if, as I believe, the panels are polypropylene (PP) they will degrade in UV light, so I would expect there to be some protective coating.

    Detailing an i3

I'm guessing this isn't a yeast-based spread you put on buttered toast (see http://www.telegraph.co.uk/news/uknews/road-and-rail-transport/8922164/20-ton-Marmite-spill-blocks-M1-motorway.html), so is it a wax or what?

    Detailing an i3

I've not got an i3 yet, so maybe current owners can answer my question: what is the actual surface finish of an i3's body? Is it raw plastic? plastic with acrylic paint over it? painted plastic with a clear coat laquer on top? And whatever it is, what type of sealant or wax are owners using to...

Class action lawsuit for i3 Rex owners in the nonCARB states

As a fellow Brit, I am ashamed of you. We have enough bankers in the UK for everybody to know what GREED is. It has nothing to do with truth or common sense.

Driver side wiper - annoying issue

I've used both Aquapel and Rain-X. Neither was as good as Ombrello (http://www.autoexpress.co.uk/accessories-tyres/42217/ombrello-glass-treatment - applies like Aquapel, but lasts much longer) or Gtechniq G1 (http://gtechniq.com/shop/3s-for-cars/exterior-coatings/g1-clearvision-smart-glass/)...

    Basic Physics...

Yes it will be sad when Ecotricity start charging the going rate for CCS charges, but it's still cheap: a CCS charge at £7.50 giving 65 miles per charge = 11.5p/mile a CCS charge at £7.50 giving 70 miles per charge = 10.7p/mile a CCS charge at £7.50 giving 80 miles per charge = 9.3p/mile a...

Driver side wiper - annoying issue

On the contrary. When we drive along we can use our right arm to brandish our swords out of the window at oncoming traffic.

    Self parking

Is there also an 'unpark' option? I would be worried that if the adjacent cars moved or were replaced while I was away, they may close up the space enough to prevent me getting out. So I assume the worst and always leave enough space ahead to be able to drive out.

What mileage was on the odometer of your brand new i3

The total mileage odometer shows all the mileage since the odometer was connected on the production line. Since then, your car was driven off the production line into a storage compound at the factory, and then onto a train taking it from Leipzig to the coast; off the train and onto a ship; off...
