Has anyone retrofitted their 6.6" nav screen to the bigger 8.8" screen?

It’s not a simple swap - the screen ID is hard-coded into the ECU. A friend has has his large screen wrenched from his car by some idiot who may have thought he could use it as a playback screen.

Auto stop charging depending on SOC

Possibly a mis-type, but the charger is not external to the car - it is an integral part of the vehicle and is located at the rear. The box on the wall is only a socket or tethered lead which connects to the vehicle.

BMW i3. A very unhappy customer

Oh please - keep it up and show more forum members your complete and utter ignorance/. You've never bought a car new - what do you know? If you have to be offensive, keep it up. I've been an EV user for a lot longer than you and your ignorance is stunning - even when it's pointed out your...

BMW Labs Widget and the IFTTT website

On a slight tangent, so forgive me! i3's supplied in the USA are supplied with a 'garage opener' button - unlike in Europe, which don't. Can anyone supply a picture of it? Where is it? Do you lose one of the long row of buttons on the dash, or is it somewhere else? Just curious!

No more nonsensical than your assertion that it is 'the only cable supplied as standard with a new i3 in the UK'. As you've not bought one, what would you know about it? You are provided with the OUC Brick, and a Type 2 3-Phase chargepoint cable, as standard in a new i3. There are some reports...

BMW i3. A very unhappy customer

The plug in Charger is for occasional use, all the documentation clearly states this - and if the previous owner used this as the sole method of charging for the period they had it, rather than a proper home charger (tethered or otherwise) it would need to be built to almost industrial standards...

Whilst I sympathise to a certain extent, you were aware that the warranty was ending and that you would be on your own unless you made alternative arrangements. You benefited from a reduced price due to its age, and it sounds as if the casual charger was used as the primary source of charging...

Decisions taken on 3 year old i3

Battery options have already been ruled out for U.K. drivers - even if you didn't baulk at the price tag of €5k plus fitting. Whilst the price for an extended warranty is untenable, the prospect of there being no inclusive support once the drivetrain warranty ends remains a real consideration -...

    Which Charging Solution

If you plan to change your vehicle and need access to different sockets - then you selection is good, as you simply use use standard charging cable. But if you plan to keep it - a T2 tethered lead will be better, as you save coiling and packing the Eire, and your T2>T2 cable can stay In the car...

    Order Time 2017 I3

Jim - as far as I can tell all dealer stock in Scotland is the same as England, they are owned by BMW and used as demonstrators or showroom eye candy. After 6 months or so they are sold on as pre-registered many with under 300 miles on the clock. The features] packs are variable and often pretty...

    Order Time 2017 I3

Well, I was given build and delivery dates within 20 minutes of signing the purchase order. I wond get the VIN until a few weeks before build commences. I purchased Jan 25th for a March 25th delivery slot.

Alarm sounds when 12V battery is disconnected

The battery will be an anti-tamper on the siren itself, when it runs out, it will fall silent. On reconnecting the 12v circuit, the siren battery will be re-energised and recommence monitoring as before.

Do all i3's have 7kw fast AC Charging?

What is even more confusing is the UK's descriptive terms for charging speeds. Fast charging is 7Kw-22Kw, to differentiate it from the original charge speeds of 3Kw. For charging at any rate above these already mentioned, whether AC or DC, it is referred to as RAPID charging - which is why...

Expected discount on new i3 in UK?

Thanks for your input - I did consider it, but not bundled in with the purchase price. When it dropped, I looked at it again, but my use as a city car means lots of short journeys and as the system is dynamic, In the 3 years I plan to keep the car, I'll only receive 1 service, so not a slam dunk...
