    C&D - What to Buy: 2013–2021 BMW i3

They forgot to mention the appetite for tires. With the recent price hikes, they cost more than electricity to run the car.

    2019 i3s - reading uncomfortable riding car

I've never had an "s", but I went from i3 with 20" wheels to the one with 19". The ride quality on the 19" is better, and they are not prone to punctures. My 20" was REX, and I had to patch the tires more often than I filled it with gas.

Seat belt buckle contact driver: interruption

I removed the seat to check the seat belt buckle circuit. The cable from the buckle has two wires, it terminates at the white insert of the underseat connector. While handling the connector I pulled the cable ever so slightly, and one of the wires fell apart. I removed the insert...

Seat belt buckle contact driver: interruption

One other reason for coding it back was to see if it buckling up would turn off the seatbelt light on the dashboard. Turned out, it still works like it should- I buckle up, the light and chime stop. So it seems that there is nothing wrong with the entire buckle circuit. Coding with Bimmercode...

Seat belt buckle contact driver: interruption

Art, thanks. Good to know it is a Hall effect sensor, not a mechanical switch. I remembered that I coded the set belt reminders not so long ago. I coded it back, will see, maybe it caused the code to pop up.

Seat belt buckle contact driver: interruption

Anyone else had the 9309C4 code? It comes up regardless of the seat belt use. I unplugged and reseated the yellow connector under the seat to no avail. Does anyone have the schematics?

Thank you. It was a good read.

Mazda brings back the REX with 372 miles range!

I own a Chrysler Pacifica PHEV and I hate that they took the KISS principle to the max- no choice to switch between EV and gas, one pedal driving, or the ability to turn off the resistive cabin heat.

Regen feels softer in my late 2018 REX vs early 2018 REX

I noticed that the regen is weaker when the battery is above 97% or when the weather is cold.

    Life after warranty

Thanks, 3pete! I was about to ask the same question as I couldn't find the coding info on the net. Even downloaded Bimmercode and it wasn't there. The advanced mode explains it.

    Life after warranty

Thanks, I coded several things in the past, but the remote start never worked. I'll try to find more info on how to do it with E-Sys- I don't want to use the app because I don't know how it works. My car is coded for "autopilot", and I don't want to redo it if the app will break that.

    Life after warranty

Is replacing the brake fluid every two years really necessary? Very few people replace it that frequently in other cars. It is not in danger of boiling, but not so sure about the potential corrosion. Can the car be coded to remote start from the fob? My internet searches led me to believe it...

BMW i3 – One of the Most Underrated Cars

These production numbers are unevenly distributed- I remember reading that i3 was the best selling car in Norway at some point. Around here it is rare- I can go for weeks without seeing another one. It doesn't need to have a worldwide following. We can also argue about the definition of a cult...

BMW i3 – One of the Most Underrated Cars

How i3 can not be a cult car? It has all the ingredients- low production numbers, instantly recognizable and controversial design, no comparable competition, short production cycle with no similar models before or after.
