My i3's Parking Assist in action - with a slight twist

Except for the shaky camera Andy, I always park in the left front seat!

Does Eco Pro always make a difference?

IMHO it is almost impossible for mortal beings to limit their right foot pressure as well as the i3 does in EP mode! The test situation which convinced me that the i3 does it more sparingly, is to roll the in-dash computer (repeatedly press the knob at the end of the turn signal...

I3 vampire loads when parked off the grid

The 3rd week of January I left my i3 parked in the garage (at home, unheated), unplugged, with 84% of charge. When I came back 8 days later I checked the SOC on the iRemote app and it was: 84%! Tom, you might call this similar, I call it excellent! :D

Drivers side window & stormy weather

Hi Steve, Yup, same deal here in Fryslân! And it wasn't only the drivers side, this suction effect also affects the passenger side door, or in the UK the driver's side front door. Besides the top of the door window being sucked off on the lea side, the door combination on the wind...

BMW i3 - Heat Pump is fitted in the front of vehicle...

Gas tank en filler pipe in the way? Very interesting thread and logical because the AC is in front of the passenger compartment too! Too bad about the "wasted" space next to the engine in the BEV...

Slight clonk soon after turning on

Good to hear Andy! I've never had a klunk but have had the rear door "problem" once! It happened when waiting on my fellow passenger to pull something from the back seat just before leaving and she closed the rear door too carelessly. The door locks went on and off when accelerating and...

    What about the bike

Well let's take this discussion into the present! Here are some pictures of my (OK, not-electric!) folding bike and i3. Big advantage of this is that this bike fits in the i3 trunk, is completely out of sight and the back seats can be used normally! And I might add that there is no fancy...

    Rex: clarification.

Somewhere else on the forum, this question has been answered by a Norwegian blogger. It comes down to a tax question there. Only BEV's seem to be eligable for the EV tax breaks. Adding the REx would more than double the catalogue price, so it's an economic driven no go for the REx in Norway...

No Sunroof in the US: Confirmed

Hey, don't sweat the sunroof! Through a mess-up in the order, my i3 turned up without a sunroof and I must admit, it's the only option I really do not miss! The i3 is not ugly, it's just different and with the dark brown leather interior it feels open and airy, let stand how it would be with...

Replace standard headlight bulbs with LEDs

Thanks for the excerpt Mike, it is very illuminating! And I definitely KNOW that the lights do NOT follow the angle of the front wheels when going through corners! Very close to my home there is a T crossing which I always approach from the vertical leg. Right smack in the middle of the...

    Home charging in Netherlands

Ik zou eerst goed nadenken of je een aparte EVSE echt nodig heb. De standaard meegeleverde apparaat voldoet prima. Een laadtijd van 8 uur tot 100% is voor mijn behoeften kort genoeg!

    Your first few 100 kilomters?

Welcome to the forum Nu2ecar and I'm glad my experiences have given you an idea of the range limitations the BEV i3 has. The highway drives I've described took place in often heavy, rush hour traffic with official speedlimits of between 60 to 75 mph with many drivers going much faster. I know...

Replace standard headlight bulbs with LEDs

Well, IMHO "directing" the Low beams away from opposing traffic and shining extra light on the road shoulder is normal, at least in Europe! Calling this "Adaptive LED" is rather misleading and BMW should hear that! They have lead customers to think that they were getting an option which does...

    Meeting other i3 owners

There are now more than a few (aspiring) i3 owners in NL! If there is any interest in an informal get-together, please post a note here! We can then decide where and when through personal mail, for those interested. It'll be fun to compare notes and exchange experiences with our i3's! 8-)

Replace standard headlight bulbs with LEDs

Yup, these i3 "problems" are a bit exasperating when you're used to the normal BMW functionality! In ICE BMW cars the light adaptation in curves only works when the main light is switched to <A>utomatic. In the i3 it doesn't matter how you switch the lights on, the headlights just won't swivel!
