Review: Wokeby Trunk Extension for the i3 BEV

Thank you for the excellent review. Do any of you who have installed this trunk extension have any comments to add following longer term use?

Can I charge my i3 120Ah at a Tesla CCS charge station?

Tesla Destination Chargers seem to be fairly ubiquitous at malls, hotels, restaurants and even wineries. They are level 2 chargers that do not need an electronic handshake, but you will need an adapter. I have made good. use of free charging using a JDapter Stub which has a permanent home in...

    $89k Munro i3 Tear-Down Cost Analysis on Sale: $10

Is there an executive summary or summary document of any kind or is this all the raw data supporting such a document? The most important document would be the summary analysis and impressions etc.

Pedestrian warning Noise , in reverse

I live in Canada and have a 2020 i3 BEV and it came standard with the pedestrian warning system, and yes, it also works when in reverse.

    The snappy throttle years

I think they also beefed-up the engine mounts after a rash of broken engine mounts & bolts, one of many incremental improvements over the years.

2020 i3 - whirring sound at low speeds - is this normal?

"BMW has fitted a so-called "Audible Pedestrian Protection" sound as an extra to its i3 runabout which works up to a speed of 30 km/h. When the vehicle starts up Audible Pedestrian Protection is always active, but it can be disabled by pressing a button when silence is desired. "We have created...

2020 i3 - whirring sound at low speeds - is this normal?

Compared to my previous 2018 i3, the 2020 i3 makes a pronounced whirring sound at low speeds which disappears between 35-40 km/hr when accelerating and reappears when you slow down. Is this a new safety feature so that pedestrians and cyclists can hear you coming up behind them before you are...

    I3 vs i3s new member

I just ordered a fully loaded 2020 i3. This will be my 3rd i3, and I use it mostly in a dense urban environment that has significant winters (Toronto, Canada). The constant freezing and thawing in the winter months wreaks havoc with pavement resulting in cracks and potholes and poor road...

BMW says i3 REX is done!!

Interesting - I just went to the BMW Canada configurator and it is for a 2018 i3! Have sales been so bad that they haven't bothered to update the website? I have a 2020 on order for delivery in the new year. I negotiated and signed the sales agreement on Nov 4, 2019 at a BMW dealership in...

BMW says i3 REX is done!!

I have owned an i3 with REX and hardly used the REX - to me it is the Achilles heel in an otherwise phenomenal design. The REX caused me headaches and I believe it causes a lot of reliability problems over the pure BEV i3. To me the REX was several hundred pounds of added weight that degraded...

Mini EV will kill used i3 prices

The i3 is a unique car that was ahead of it's time on initial release, and as a city car in a dense congested urban environment it is hard to beat. It is surprisingly spacious inside for it's size, easy to park, can turn on a dime to nab a spot across the street, and darts through traffic with...

Using Tesla Destination Chargers with an adapter for your i3?

We often see Teslas plugged into free chargers that we could be using, but what about our using Tesla's free chargers? Tesla Destination Chargers are basically level 2 chargers which Tesla distributes to businesses such as hotels, malls, restaurants etc for them to manage. This helps Tesla...

    i3 is over

The precursor to the i3 was the MINI E, of which 600 were made, and it informed the development and production of the i3. The new Mini E Concept car that made its debut at the Frankfurt Auto Show in 2017 will apparently be in production for the 2019 model year, and the drivetrain will be from...

    i3 is over

I think that the range of an EV is used to mislead consumers into thinking more is better, when in fact more range comes at the price of increased weight from greater battery capacity. Bigger is not always better - a lighter vehicle has performance and efficiency advantages over a heavier one...

Can coding corrupt the i3's operating system?

So it sounds like using the DVD in Motion solution to 'coding' HSOC would be a little safer (and idiot proof) that using the Bimmercode App as this approach could potentially cause problems if you don't do it right.
