    Vinegar smell from HVAC

Yeah this is the first time I have noticed it in any car. The cabin filter is probably almost 2 years old. I'll look into the other. Thank you!

    Vinegar smell from HVAC

With everything going on my car has been sitting in an underground garage (73 ambient) and connected to a level 2 charger. I noticed a faint vinegar smell on “cold start” with no preconditioning the other day and was wondering what’s going on. It only lasts a few seconds and then dissipates...

    Alignment / Rear Camber

I just had my car aligned by a local tire shop and was told the rear camber is not adjustable. The initial rear camber was -2.07/-2.09 (L/R) and final was -2.08/-2.03 (L/R). The car is a 2014 Rex with 19" 429s, new tires, H&R springs, and new rubber perches / boots. My prior tires EP600s lasted...

Torn dust cover - shock absorber

I got the new parts today, the part number does not have an index. It seems to be a higher quality part than the originals but then again the current ones are nearly 6 years old.

Torn dust cover - shock absorber

The parts guys at BMW Northwest was aware of the issue with the old ones and 31-33-6-852-223 will be the updated part.

Torn dust cover - shock absorber

I got the 03 index from SI B31 06 14: https://static.nhtsa.gov/odi/tsbs/2016/MC-10151311-9999.pdf. If you look up p/n 31336852223 on Real OEM there is a note to Observe Service Information Bulletin 59834045. I don't have a copy of that but will double check with the parts department and see...

Torn dust cover - shock absorber

It looks like BMW updated the fronts for the 2014. The new part is identified by an index 03 following the part number e.g., 31336852223-03. I just ordered H&R springs and am going to update the spring pads on the front and back. On the front the top spring pad and boot are all one piece. Will...

    Heated seat switches off

It’s probably a seat heating line break and requires replacement of the lower seat cushion. My dealer quoted $1386.22 to fix the passenger side. The fault code is 32776.

    Heated Seat Issue

I spoke to a tech about it one has to order the entire seat cushion which has the "heater mat" and the temp control integrated into it. The part is about $160 or you can buy the cushion with the fabric already attached for about $600.

    Air conditioning failed

After reading all of this and on the facebook groups, I addressed these concerns and sent links to get my dealer (BMW Seattle) to proactively inspect both the motor mounts (bolts were replaced) and the A/C system before the warranty ran out and my service advisor shrugged it off like whatever...

    Heated Seat Issue

The notes from my dealers state: fault code 804906 passenger seat heating line break, ran test plan, test plan failed passenger seat heating grid. The quote for replacement comes out to $1,386.22. That's ridiculous. Granted my car is a 2014 but it only has 32,000 miles and I rarely have...

    Heated Seat Issue

I need to take my car in for an oil change and will get a detailed estimate to repair the seat including time and materials. Mine stays on for about 3 minutes, gets very hot and then shuts itself off. I was going to swap the ecu’s under the seats but I’m guessing it’s temp sensor related and...

    Heated Seat Issue

I just started having this problem intermittently. It looks like the element and seat cushion are one piece and there is also a seat module. Both can be tested with a multimeter. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=CgL37CQNcWc
