    Lumbar support option?

Why stop at lumbar? I'm sure a lot of us would have preferred and paid more for power heated and cooled seats. Little more weight, an inch or two lost legroom for the rear passengers.. Worth it!

    3 rear seats option

Do you hate front wheel drive cars like I do? If not, go buy a Chevy Bolt. No REX option, but much better range, seating for 5, real rear doors, and it's still a small hatchback. I wouldn't try to chase anyone away from an i3, but with 3 kids something like a Bolt (or maybe Leaf???) is just a...

Help with understanding Range Loss over time

That's part of the stated purpose, it's the next bit I was referring to: "We are developing machine learning algorithms to predict future battery life and range across all major EV models." If this is a decades long study then maybe once battery tech has stabilized. For now, battery tech is...

    Need to upgrade sound

Honestly, the best option is probably to hit up a local custom stereo store and have them upgrade you. They can wire in an amp and rear speakers no problem. While you are at it, there are aftermarket options to add Android Auto/Apple Carplay (something I added to my old Grand Cherokee that I...

Help with understanding Range Loss over time

While I will not be participating, I do have a guess as to why they want 2017 and newer. If they want to track degradation over time they probably want to know when battery degradation happens. If the car is 4 years old and it's 20% degraded, did that happen in the first year or two or...

i3 REX (2015) locking and unlocking by itself while driving

It's the machines man. They are getting smarter and smarter, now they are testing to check boundries to prepare....

    Performance Mods? i3 M anyone?

He specifically states it's on a REX and he talks about HSOC issues.. However, without a baseline using the same methods and same conditions we have no idea if there is an improvement or even what his "very close to 7 seconds" is. Are we talking 7.5 stock vs 7.3 modded? 8.0 vs 7.1? I get...

    Advice on used i3 purchase

I could be wrong but I don't think any company has hub centric electric motors in production yet. The new Lordstown truck coming out soon will have hub motors. <offtopic> Not sure if it's just a decision or a limitation on hub motors not having any gearing, but the top speed of that truck is...

    BMW i3 Reliability

Generally speaking, EVs should be much more reliable than ICE vehicles. That's not to say there will not be growing pains, recalls, issues and such but less moving parts and less to go wrong. Downside is there are a few things that when they go bad they are catastrophic. I've heard some...

    i3 being seen as Ugly

Wow, old thread... The i3 is ugly. Period. We call ours the Turd because it looks so bad. It's also fun to drive and great for anything short of a long trip or Home Depot run. None of that changes the fact that it's a fugly car.

Is 40 twice as fast as 20?

For level 2 charging, the i3 can charge up to 32A. Not sure what your current charger supports, probably 16a based on a 20a circuit, so you at likely looking at roughly half the charging time.

    adaptive cruise control dropping out

Let's face it, the ACC in the i3 kinda sucks. Not only does it drop out under many conditions, I think what's worse is when it doesn't slow down for cars stopped ahead of you. I've had a few times where I had to take over and mash the brakes pretty hard when I realized the i3 wasn't going to...

i3 Noob Questions (brake and AC performance?)

Getting the ABS to kick in is not directly tied how far the pedal is pushed. It kicks in when it detects a wheel starting to lock up. This will be different pedal push distances depending on weather, speed, tire condition, road surfaces, turning or going straight..... Despite the skinny tires...

    Tire Questions for 2016 i3

When you say a lot of concerns and ask if it's a huge problem, what concerns? What problem? Some complain about the ride quality of 20s, but most people including myself think the 19s ride just fine. They are skinny which not only looks funny but also limit the handling. Good for rolling...

Someone towed my BMW i3, it wasn't towed on a flatbed, EDME module failed

This would be my guess. Businesses, apartments, etc. can work with a towing company, basically giving them the ok to enforce towing rules however they see fit. This lets the towing company make $$ and the business/apartment doesn't have to worry about it. Learned this the hard way - fresh out...
